HDMI signal blinking

So I setup my kids Xbox Series S in a closet in their game room with an hdmi wall plate, a 30' cable from it through the attic over to another wall plate behind the tv, having short 4' cables from each plate to the tv and console respectively. This setup worked great for the last 2 years but a couple months ago it started dropping their resolution to 640x480 randomly, then it started to just not get signal at all sometimes. Thought it was an issue with the older tv and bought them a new one and plugged everything back in, now it is worse. Signal rarely comes in at all and then only for a second or two then back off. I have tested 2 new wall plates on the console side along with 2 new jumper cables, also a simple hmdi extension, all with no difference...if I bypass those and plug directly into the 30' cable it works perfectly, but that requires me holding it up to the wall which is not workable obviously. I have also played around with the display settings a bit with no improvement either. Any idea why that extra hop is borking everything, especially since it was working for the better part of 2 years before now?

I have this same issue... Works great with one HDMI cord but if you go through a wall plate it doesn't change the output. I did mess with the resolution on the Xbox from 4k ->1080 and then it worked until I tried loading up a game. :/ I have an expensive 4k HDMI in the wall plates too.

Thanks for the reply, but as I said I have tried a total of 3, 2 brand new, wall plates as well as 3, 2 brand new, patch cables from it to the console with the same results...also just bypassed the wall plate completely with a brand new extension cable thar also gave the same results...was there any update to hdcp that may cause some sort of limit to hops on the cable?

Hello Paul, by your description it's very difficult to know what could be going on but it seems to be something on your wall plate.

If when connecting the console directly with another cable it works normally, the ideal is to ask for some kind of technical visit that can measure the conductivity of your cable that you used previously, there are appropriate equipment that can electrically measure the HDMI cable, or any other type of cable you are using.

I actually had 2 wall plates, also the expensive ones, and it worked for almost 2 years till now, still have one on the tv side but if I use one on the console side it blinks in and out, more out than in too...thinking I might have to change out that 30' for a 40' so I can ditch the plate on the console side but it is a pita crawling around my attic to do it.
