    HDMI resolution issues

    Hi,

    My issue is with a Xbox360 S

I've randomly started having display issues, first my (1080p capable) tv stopped showing any image and my receiver showed unsupported audio signal.

So I changed my HDMI cable (3 times), plugged straight into my TV (bypass the receiver) but still no image.

Then I reset my settings by holding in the power button and this reverted the image to 640x480 at 60Hz but at least I could see everything. Went to display settings and changed to 1080p.

-at 1080p the image appeared for 1-2 seconds with lots of artifacts and generally a snowy poor quality image.

-then at 1080i the imgae would stay and still show lots of artifacts but better the 1080p

-then at 720p the image only had a few artifacts and better than 1080i

So now what? If I try and restart with 720p or higher it reverts to nothing. Why would I all of the sudden get no or terrible images for all HD output?

Any help would be appreciated (note I've tried multiple HDMI cables and televisions, but I don't have a component connection cable to test)

    :)

It seems to default to DVI when "HDMI Auto" is selected, changing it to HDMI will fix the issue but you will probably need to change the resolution back to the correct 1080p also.

Actually, maybe try changing your HDMI cable. With 4k, you need to have an ultra high speed cable. Had a similar issues with my tv and xbox, the xbox didnt show the resolution that i knew my tv was capable of. I replaced the cable and all 4k resolutions
    became available.

Your HDMI out is failing. Nothing you can do. Component would be a better choice, but your console is having a slow and painful death. Usually once HDMI fails, component works for the majority of cases.

Question: Will the Xbox One support standard TV?

Who is asking? I assume it is not your own question Halo. I will be kind this time and give you a probable answer. The new Xbox 360 only has HDMI out. I suspect the Xbox One will be the same. So the issue is not resolutions. The TV will need HDMI in. If
it has it then the resolutions issue will go away.

Xbox one works on some tvs but not others???

    Hi!

It may be a resolution issue or compatibility with the HDMI cable. We should know the model of the TV.

    HDMI Issue

?Can you connect some other device like a laptop to see if the issue with the resolution persists

Or if you have some sort of a smart TV try a different HDMI Port or change the resolution from the TV itself
