HDMI port not working

My sons slim 4 gig 360 hdmi isn't working . when I bought it for him it was working with hdmi and now it says format not supported . The av cords work with it though. What's wrong ?

HDMI Port not Working

Hey, I'm wondering if someone can assist me on a problem I'm having with my Xbox 360's HDMI port…

Everything was working fine (had the same setup for years) until yesterday when I tried to install an HDMI switcher on my Vizio HDTV -- the TV only has one HDMI port and I have more than one HD-ready device hooked up to it, thus the need for the switcher.

Well, as soon as I plugged the switcher in, the Xbox would not display on the TV screen. So, I unhooked the switcher, plugged everything back in as before, and now the Xbox still won't display an image.

Did the switcher somehow fry the HDMI port on the Xbox?

Things to know:

1. The HDMI port on the TV still works -- I've plugged other devices into it and they work fine.

2. The Xbox will display an image with AV cables.

3. I've tried rebooting, pressing RT + Y while rebooting, and all sorts of other combinations … no luck.

Any other suggestions?

You might want to stick with the Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable or Xbox 360 Composite AV Cable if that`s working for you at the moment. I`m not sure, It might be the Xbox 360 HDMI Cable that has been damaged, There`s no way of really knowing until you replace
it with another Xbox 360 HDMI Cable to check if the original one you have has been faulty,

Now, I've got your same problem !

I have contacted the Xbox Clients Service

And a person say to me : REMPLACE YOUR XBOX ! It's the only solution !

Correct, when I connect the 360 to the TV directly I see no picture. I've tried multiple HDMI cables & none of them work. However, I know the HDMI port on the TV works because I tested it on a different device.

Try it on another TV with the HDMI cable. If it still won't work, its either the HDMI cable or the console. Try a different HDMI cable after that and then decide if you need to send the console in for repair or not.

first do not bump old threads create a new one, second of course if you are out of warranty you will have to pay to fix it this how it is with ALL companies. you will not get a refund from MS sorry.

Had this issue myself try resting the display settings.

1. Remove any disc from the console

2. Turn it off - this is important otherwise you will not be able to the next step

3. Now turn it back on again!

If using a wireless controller, use the guide button on the player 1 controller to do this

4. As the console starts hold Y while pulling the right trigger. The console will restart

If this doesnt work I pluged my XBOX into another TV if possible using the HDMI port, then plugged it back into the first TV again. Started working
