HDMI Passthrough - Screen is too dark when going to tv function

Hello all

love the Xbox. One of the main reasons I bought it was that it automates a lot of my functions in my living room but when I cycle the Xbox to watching tv (which is really my computer) the colors show distorted and the blacks are waaaay too dark I can hardly
distinguish anything.

:)

So how are we meant to use speakers with the Xbox One?

I have a soundbar that uses hdmi only, and my tv supports arc, no issues here and it was fairly priced too. also has hdmi passthrough so I don't lose an hdmi port.

3. Do we still need our Cable remote ?

If you use the HDMI passthrough for your cable box so you can watch TV on the Xbox, do we still need the cable remote or will the XB1 controller/Kinect allow us to replicate all the normal remote functions, FF, rewind, pause, DVR functions etc?

I don't want you to re-invent the wheel, what settings have you tried thus far? It sounds like we are coming from 2 different points of assumption. Mine is there is a setting that can change on the PC. Is it safe to say: you believe this to be a function
of the Xbox (if so, you could possibly be correct, but I am willing to help troubleshoot to make sure)? Let me know

-Cheers

1080i display?

Ok, I actually decided to revisit this thread. According to the "official" response, 1080i isn't supported because it can make the HDMI passthrough signal look a little "blurry".

Rather than giving people 1080i and providing a little warning when the mode is chosen, what we have here is Microsoft hobbling their system for a massive number of people for what is essentially a secondary function of the console. I don't even have anything
plugged into HDMI passthrough due to it's inability to passthrough all the audio formats.

Tv question

Just let it do the Automatic setting. On the Sony I have HDMI 1 port (ARC) controls the function so the console turns on the tv and turns it off. Make sure your using the supplied HDMI from Console to TV. The one that goes from the Console to the Cable
Box should not matter. Also I noticed something too when I set mine up because I was not seeing the TV once everything was setup. The HDMI cables just make sure they are pushed in correctly. Mine was not seated all the way which caused a black screen when
on the TV app.

Fix needed to allow TV with Xbox off
That will not work as the signal from your TV receiver has to travel through your Xbox in order to reach your TV. Therefore, in order for it to work both the cable box and Xbox have to be turned on.
How do you explain other devices such as AV Receivers that fulfill this task (HDMI passthrough) even when in standby/off?

By definition this is "HDMI passthrough" not the half hearted approach MS have taken.
