HDMI Passthrough - Picture Quality

Dish works great no, noticeable differences.

If you in the Preview beta expect things to be messed up.

 

I only actually tried it that one time back in November, I never planned to use it all the time because My Mrs didn't want to mess about with the X1 (she isn't a gamer and doesn't entertain consoles at all). So for all I know it could be fine now.

 

I would think that it has to do with the service provider. It seems like it's only affecting certain services.

 

I use Humax FreeSat as my provider - via HDMI In on a 4K TV - picture is awesome. No different in quality to what I see using the TV's own FreeSat.

 

Couple of things that might help out.

For motion issues, make sure the Xbox One is set to use 50hz for TV.

If you watch a lot of fast moving TV like sports, it also helps to set the Sky box to progressive output, my one for example only supports 720p or 1080i, using 720p results in a better picture for me, less weirdness as the Xbox doesn't need to de-interlace
the picture. Trade off being slightly worse resolution on near-still frames.

Colour wise I've not noticed any difference.
