HDMI Passthrough - Picture Quality

Hi there, I've been watching Sky TV via HDMI Passthrough for the last 3 months. However, yesterday the sound started breaking up. I messed about with the cables and ended up plugging the Sky box directly into the TV. now I was aware that HDMI Passthrough
was degrading the picture somewhat, but it's not until you revert after sometime that you notice how much. It's like night and day! The colours, the sharpness, the motion. I really can't believe how badly MS have messed this up. I certainly won't be going
back. I'm a big fan of the xbox, but this is really poor and means I won't be able to use one of the best features of the xbox, which is the fast switching. Seriously MS, sort it out.

HDMI Passthrough sometimes appears zoomed in

I have the exact same problem with my Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC. When watching through HDMI passthrough the picture is zoomed so picture is cropped and the quality is not very good. were you able to identify what's causing it?

 

1X degrades cable picture

When cable box goes through xbox one x the picture quality is degraded compared to when it is connected to tv straight. Not really resolution, theres more noise in the picture. Tried switching hdmi cables, inputs. Hopefully it can be corrected via software
update.

 

I noticed this last November when I first tried it out, it was very noticeable.

 

I honestly don't notice much of a difference between the 2.

 

Maybe it depends what you use, I'm also a Sky subscriber. As soon as I tried it, Me and My Mrs both noticed a loss of quality in the picture.

 

Could be, because I'm using DirecTv, and I still get a crystal clear HD picture.

 

I only tryed hdmi input once, could tell straight away it looked worse, used dark souls on 360 to test, black looked worse, edges are not as sharp,both x1 and 360 running at 720p, so no its not the 1080 upscaling , but thats what it almost looks like, X1
hdmi input quality looks like a 720p tv set to 1080p mode , the colours are all faded

another stupid feature like kinect that should have been used on more powerfull hardware, if it could record HDMI in, it would be usefull, but you cant even do that

 

I've had no drop in quality with using my Apple TV through the a HDMI in.

 

Hmm,that is strange that it would be like that for some ..I am on directv too,and the picture is fine going through xbox..There has to be a simple fix or setting on the xbox ,,not sure what ,but it makes no sense..

 

Perhaps stating what your Xbox One Display settings etc are may help others get to the bottom of the issue.

 

No drop in quality with DIRECTV.

 

Are you on the preview beta? It's a know issue that the sound on the tv app is messed up, if you can access the preview forums take a look >

It doesn't look like they're talking about the sound, Bazra.

As for my brief experience with using the HDMI pass-through, I noticed a very slight degradation of the image when I was using my Xbox 360 with it. It wasn't much, but it was noticeable if you looked closely. Besides, it always felt weird seeing 2 message
notifications pop up at the same time...

 

Bazra, yes I am on the preview. Seems like this is defo the reason for the sound issue so thanks. Doesn't solve the other picture issues, but hopefully MS will address this at some point.
