HDMI issues

Evening all,

About a week ago I turned my xbox elite on and couldn't get a signal through the HDMI port on my Panasonic Viera. I'd been playing it through HDMI for a number of months without issue beforehand.

Initially I though it was a cable error so tried a few other cables that I knew were working. No luck. I then put another device through the HDMI port, it worked fine. I then tried the xbox through the other 2 HDMI ports, no luck.

I suspected it was maybe an xbox error given that the TV worked on all ports with other devices. I did the usual resets, switch off at mains, downloading of the most recent dashboard, blind resets etc. still no luck so I took it to GAME to have it checked
out. The HDMI worked perfectly on their monitor.

So, I'm confused now as the TV works on all HDMI ports as does the xbox on another monitor.

Any thoughts appreciated! Not sure if this is common and there is something obvious that I'm not doing!

Sorry to hear about your problems. Sounds frustrating. Did you connect it straight to a tv with the supplied HDMI cable? I had some flicker issues and it was the HDMI cable. I mean it is possible you got two bad systems, but it is also possible you have a couple of crappy HDMI cables lying around your house, like I did.

It shouldn't affect quality. Turning Display Discovery off simply makes the Xbox 360 ignore some (but not all) of the E-EDID data sent by the display, revealing settings not identified as supported by the display. It just gives you the option to override
those settings if the display supports them.

There might be exceptions, but I don't think any of the listed resolutions change in timings or such by the Display Discovery option.

I'm having a issue sorta like this, but it won't work unless its plugged into my Xbox one!
