HDMI IN NO SOUND

As you can see from the pics, it has the old white and red A/V inputs if you want to use them. You don't need a new sound system.

So as long as I get a Microsoft HDMI cable near the Xbox's in Wal-Mart or something it should just come with a separate adapter for it?

The sound system that i would like to use has only the white and red A/V sound inputs on it, but I'm looking at buying a new sound system anyway, so would I need a system with an S/PDIF or something on it?

Hi, so you get sound with display discovery off but not with display discovery turned on? Display discovery doesn't have to be enabled its just an option. So if your sound and display are ok with display discovery off just leave it off it won't hurt anything.

Hi, I don't know what steps you have taken already but here are a couple of things to try.

-

In the display settings section, disable display discovery, if you then get sound try enabling display discovery again.

Reset the display settings on the console, power the console on using the guide button on a controller, as the console boots up press and hold Y and the right trigger until the console restarts.

Remove the power cable from the console and press the power button several times, connect the power cable again and then try the console.

If none of the above does anything for you please post back, if anything above does do anything for you then please post back.

You could look online for the right wiring schematics. I bought a cheap off brand audio adapter when I got my first HDMI 360 that didn't work correctly giving the mentioned resets or no HDMI signal. Found the correct wiring schematic online. Ten minutes
later I had soldered the one wire that was in the wrong place and glued the adapter back together. Has worked hundreds of hours since until I got a new slim and didn't need it.

You can crack open your VGA or Component cable and use that, but if you already have an adapter it would be worth cracking that open first and try to fix it. Also all RCA connections used for component or composite video or stereo and digital audio are all
the same dimensions.
