    Hdmi handshake issue

Just happened to me to, Cant believe it. HDMI connection will not work with any of my TVs or monitors but the component works just fine but isn't a option for me. Was working fine one day and then the next will not work on anything, I did move it to another
TV though. I did get some output through hdmi after turning on and blindly changing display options, 480p gave me a picture but covered with green pixels and lines but it would also drop out at times. Why is this not fixed?????

    :)

Friendly advice: get a good hdmi cable to connect the set top box to the xbox one. This will help you mitigate any hdcp handshake issues.

    HDMI Handshake Issue?

i had a similar issue with another console that shall not be named lol, and it was random, turn it on and id get picture but no sound, other times sound but no picture. when that happened i would have to change the input on my tv, then change it back. usually
fixed it. to be clear i would have to change it to another active input,in other words another HDMI device that was turned on. changing it to tv wouldnt work, simply turning it off and back on didnt work either. my guess is that when i changed it to another
input it reinitialized the handshake. the problem stopped after i got a new tv so that could be your problem.

    Hdmi handshake issue

Try resetting your video settings. Try a different HDMI cable as well. Make sure there isn't anything funky in the HDMI port on your TV and console. Try a different HDMI input on your TV as well.

If you say that green pixels and errors appear, then this means that either the cabling or the connectors on your TV or console are faulty. Try to use a different HDMI cable, and if that doesn't improve the situation, check if there is dirt or dust visible
in the connectors of your console or the TV.

Check if other HDMI devices (e.g. Blu Ray Player) work on the TV. If those work, then there is a high probability, that the physical connector of your console is defective (e.g. "cold" solder points or corroded contacts).

When a HDMI device shows a picture with green pixels and lines, the signal between TV and console gets corrupted, usually bad cabling or contacts. As soon as HDCP protection is needed on higher resolutions, the Handshake can't happen due to the "broken"
data coming from the bad cabling.

So check the cabling and contacts, and see if that improves the situation.

It's a software issue with the Xbox. Why are you guys suggesting answers that don't involve a software upgrade. This is a known issue that Microsoft is NOT addressing

It's a software issue with the Xbox.

Well, my two Xbox 360 have the same Software as yours, and my consoles work on at least 4 different TVs and video projectors without HDMI problems.

Yes, there are some TVs that are incompatible with the HDCP standard that won't work properly with the Xbox. But they do NOT show flickering lines or green pixels. This symptom is clearly a defective cable or connector.

General HDCP / HDMI Handshake problems and guidelines

When a HDMI / HDCP Handshaking issue occur the easiest way to re-negotiate the handshake is to power cycle the source device or the display. Always wait 10 seconds or longer when the display or source has been power cycled for the HDMI distribution equipment
to reset hdmi handshake / timing. Some displays may also re-negotiate the handshake when swopping to another input e.g. AV1 ,AV2 or another HDMI Port (wait 10 seconds) and swopping back to correct HDMI Input via remote control. HDMI Distribution equipment
should never be powered off since it provides the path for the HDCP / HDMI Handshake between source and display. Some devices such as switches and HDMI Switches / Combo splitters also allow for HDMI handshake re-authentication by switching from one input to
another and back to the input having HDCP handshaking issues. If power cycles on the Display or Source does not prove to be effective power cycle all HDMI equipment (Source, HDMI Distribution Equipment, Receivers / Amplifiers and Displays). If HDCP errors
still occur you need a firmware upgrade to sort out the HDMI port timing / handshake issues on the source or display. Please contact your Source device, Display or Digital receiver manufacturer for a firmware upgrade and advice on hdmi handshake issues. It
is often extremely difficult to troubleshoot these issues since the HDTV supplier will blame the source supplier, will blame the digital receiver supplier, will blame the Hdmi Distribution supplier etc. etc. If going through your total home entertainment setup,
make sure all your equipment has the latest firmware.

    HDMI Handshake Issue?

So when will there be a software update to fix this? (obviously it is not a cable or hardware issue). What is the "at home solution" here? Please do not answer that have to send the console in because if I do I will be charged $99, and this is $99 that
Microsoft does not need to make off of it's customers who already paid for their product. Microsoft should not squeeze more money out of me when clearly this problem is theirs. Again when will there be a software update to fix this? When?

This is a direct email I recvd from Support (still no fix, crazy):

G'day Ozay. Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, are you referring to the HDCP link issue in this thread?

If so, then I'm afraid I don't have any more info than what's been shared there already. A few folks volunteered their consoles to help us investigate and we're making headway, but I don't have any solid news to share just yet. When I do, I'll be sure to
    update that thread again.
