HDMI for video and VGA for audio??

    Good day everyone

I still have an ancient sound system that uses the L and R audio jacks from the A/V cable. If I can go about without buying a system that uses the S/PDIF I would be very happy!

Will it damage my Xbox 360 console if I connect both the HDMI cable and A/V cable at the same time? The HDMI will be connected to my TV (with the TV's audio muted) and the R and L jacks of the A/V cable will be connected to my Logitech speakers.

Thanks HDMI for video and VGA for audio?? :)

    :)

    Xbox 360 Slim GPU error?

Are you using the same type of video cables for both consoles? (HDMI, VGA, Etc)

  3. Xbox one connections

I have a LCD Hitachi projector that has component video, and VGA Inputs (no HDMI). Xbox one only supports HDMI out to TV. Is there a converter or connector that will allow me to go from the Xbox one (HDMI) to my projector (video component or VGA)?

I can't see that being an issue, but why not just connect all the cables to the input of the TV and then get a second set of L/R cables to connect from your TV to the stereo?

Hi, I used that sort of setup for a good few years with no problems, as long as you don't try to connect both the HDMI and VGA video outputs it should be fine.

@onyxishere, my TV only has a digital audi output. Otherwise that would've been first prize HDMI for video and VGA for audio?? ;)

Good to hear EggsBoxJuan, I will give the setup a try!

There is a small delay in sound, with the sound from the RCA lagging a fraction of a second to the video from the HDMI. Is this normal, and is there any way to work around this?

@icestorm: ok, thanx. I also try a HDMI to DVI cable AND a DVI to VGA Adapter, so i get a HDMI to VGA. But i didnt get a picture or audio. My HDMI to DVi is a 21 pins, but the DVI to vga is 21+4 Pin Adapter. mybee thats the Problem????
DVI won't pass audio. Video only. Same as VGA.

No HD AV cable support for Xbox 360 E

    Video Quality

    1. HDMI (best audio/video, audio included, supports up to 1080p), DVI (exactly equal to HDMI video wise, requires separate audio inputs, supports over 1080p)
    2. VGA (requires separate audio inputs, supports over 1080p)
    3. Component (usually includes audio inputs, supports up to 1080i)
    4. Composite (usually includes audio inputs, supports up to 480i)

Connecting Xbox One HDMI to VGA + audio component?
But what I want to know is if its possible to get hdmi to vga +audio lead like the one on the Xbox 360 or do I have to out and buy converter etc
There are

powered HDMI to VGA+audio adapters available
. They appear to be no-name since HDMI to an unencrypted output is a no-no in general.

One of those with the correct cabling (HDMI from Xbox One to adapter, VGA from adapter to monitor, mini-plug to whatever other end you need for audio) should fit the bill.

Note that whatever you use requires power somewhere, either from the HDMI port or an external source. There is no passive device that can convert from HDMI to VGA. It's not just a cable.
