  1. HDMI Connection Problems

    Hello,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with a problem I am trying to fix on my friends Xbox 360...

When I connect it to my TV I get "No Signal" displayed on the screen and no Audio - but the box does boot up.

When I connect it to the TV with the standard yellow/white/red cable it works fine!

When I try using my xbox 360 with the same cables and power pack everything works perfectly - so that rules out it being the cables or the TV.

The other thing I notice is that his settings/display menu is different to mine. His is missing the "Display Discover" option?

His Xbox looks like one of the originals is the CD tray is silver and not the same colour as the console...

Can anyone make any suggestions what I can do to try and fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Trev

    :)

    xbox faulty

Sorry to hear about your problems. Sounds frustrating. Did you connect it straight to a tv with the supplied HDMI cable? I had some flicker issues and it was the HDMI cable. I mean it is possible you got two bad systems, but it is also possible you have a couple of crappy HDMI cables lying around your house, like I did.

Blank TV or monitor - Solutions

Does your TV screen or monitor remain blank or black after starting your Xbox 360 console?

If your TV or monitor remains blank or black and the circle of lights surrounding the console’s power button flashes red, there might be a problem with the audio/vedio (A/V) cable. The cable might also be faulty.

    Solutions

    • You need to inspect the connection for the A/V or HDMI cable on your Xbox console.
    • You also have to check the connection for the A/V or HDMI cable on your television.
After ensuring secured connections, if the problem exists, you should contact Xbox Support for a cable replacement.

You can try the display reset during console start-up.

Have you seen the friend's console work with an HDMI connection on any TV? It is possible that the HDMI port has failed, but it isn't a common problem so I don't think it is likely.

The fact that the available settings are different between your two consoles implies that one of them is not running the latest available update. While that alone shouldn't keep HDMI from working, if your friend's console is the one running an older version
then updating it via a connection to Xbox Live could help.

    hdmi connection problem

I had the same problem and spent 2 hours debugging it and fixed it. My machine switched to DVI mode and I lost the HDTV menu item on display settings. I finally got the HDTV menu back by:

    1. Clear the system cache.

    2. Turn on Display Discovery. Reboot.

    3. Turn off Display Discovery. Reboot.

    4. The HDTV menu came back and I could set up the HDMI for 1080I

I hope this help, I couldn't find the procedure anywhere so I thought I would respond to the most recent one.

Are you using an HDMI cable for connection or other means.

3D will only work through an HDMI connection, please could you try using an HDMI cable to see if this rectifies the problem.
