HDMI Cable is detected as VGA On my TV

So my little brother got an Xbox One and when we plugged everything in, the resolution was set to 640x480 and th HDMI that came with the xbox one had been detected as a VGA cable. I've looked everywhere for an anwser to this and I can't find one. Does anyone
    have a solution?

    :)

Where will you be putting The Big O at?

In the same spot my 360 is currently on, right under the TV. The 360 will join the Dreamcast next to the PC, connected to my monitor with a vga or hdmi cable

Which is better, 720p or 1360x768?

I have a Sony KDL40EX720 Full HD 1920X1080 TV which is Sonys 2011 model. I use HDMI cable (and VGA mainly for my Turtle Beach x31 headset). Everyone is going to say 1080p is better than 720p. HDMI is going to be always better than VGA cause with the VGA
cable, I can't turn on dot noise reduction nor noise reduction nor mpeg noise reduction nor can I have the picture mode on Auto nor Photo. Also with HDMI, you get 5.1 surround sound where as with VGA you only get stereo sound. Also, it's easier to adjust the
width of the picture on my TV using HDMI cause theres very limited options for adjusting the picture width using HDMI. I can't use my turtle beach x31 headset using HDMI because HDMI doesn't support TOSLINK or something but VGA does. Got the HDMI cable from
Sony Style in my city and ordered the VGA cable from xbox.com Sydney Australia since xbox.com NZ can't supply it. xxx for the detail, but I like to write. To answer your question, 720p with HDMI is better than 1360x768 VGA in my opinion since HDMI is newer
    than VGA ~~~ .

Using HD VGA cable. Can't find HDTV setting.

The official MS VGA cable will do 1080p, I'd suggest that your tv doesn't support that resolution over VGA. If there is an HDMI input on your monitor try a HDMI cable.

    Xbox One and VGA

So guys. My Problem is: xbox One with HDMI to HDMI has a Bad picture on my 42" grundig led tv.(sharpness and any modes are at 0) I had the xbox360 with VGA and the picture was much better then now with HDMI. Would that work too on Xbox One with a HDMI to
    VGA cable????

Questions about Xbox 360 E Video Output

Since the E model does not support Component video or VGA video out of the video port (i.e. no cables made for it like the original and S models), you would need to get a HDMI converter. I use one that is HDMI to VGA on my Xbox One to my projector. If your
TV does not have HDMI, then it would need component or VGA inputs in order to receive a HD signal. If you TV does not have those inputs, then you will need to upgrade your TV.

    -

Also I should point out that the included video RCA cable included with the console is a composite cable, not component. Component cables are analog HD cables with the signal split into red, green and blue with each lead colored appropriately. What you
referred to as component is in fact a composite cable.

Get the Most Out of Your Xbox and Forza

I have a few high quality HDMI cables. My TV does have 4000k and 6500k settings, though I'm not the most informed about their uses. I have tried multiple different setting combinations and still found the VGA cable to provide the best picture overall. The
color depth is better via HDMI, but the picture looks smoother using the VGA cable. The edges of round objects look much cleaner, more rounded. After doing a little more research I've found that it really depends on your TV or monitor as to which connections
work best. For my receiver the optical audio cable made a huge difference. I could've ran the optical audio cable from my TV to the receiver using an HDMI to the TV from the console. Like I said the picture quality overall for me is better with the VGA.
