  1. Hdmi Cable configuration for TV / Soundbar

I have a 65" LG GX and matching GX soundbar. My installer did a great job on the install which was done prior to the release of the Series X but he knew I had preordered it so he did a bit of research into the 4K120, auto low latency and variable refresh rate functionality.

We discussed the cabling and he sourced genuine HDMI 2.1 cables (even for the HDMI 2.0 4k BT TV box) as future proofing and he suggested that, despite the soundbar and TV being fully eARC compatible, it might be best to plug the Xbox One X I had at that point straight into the TV as I may not get the functionality if the XSX didn't detect the TV properly due to passthrough.

Since then I have had perfect picture compatibility but a nightmare with sound, although Dolby Atmos is now getting better (for a while, I got silence if I selected Atmos) I get silence in the dash, sometimes I get navigation sound, sometimes it works in the dash and not in games. Sometimes it works in games, I go out to the dash and when I go back into the game.... silence. Each time, the soundbar reports it's receiving Atmos and I can get Atmos in the Atmos app (though that sometimes drops too.

I'm willing to reconfigure my cabling, passing the XSX into the soundbar and then allow eARC to do it's thing if it will resolve the Atmos situation. Not so keen to pull cables out of walls if there is a more fundamental problem or it will 'break' something else like ALL or 4K120.

Thank you for your attention and advice.

    Dolby Atmos and 4K

    Thank you for replying.

    LG 65 inch OLED C9.

Soundbar Samsung HW 950. Both support Dolby Atmos.

Currently, the console is plugged into the TV via HDMI. Then the soundbar receives the sound via eARC.

Apple TV is configured the same way. Dolby Atmos works fine.

TV configured at 60 HZ, 30 bits per pixel.

I am not part of the Insiders Program, would it be worth enrolling?

4K HDMI cable, the same type of cable to Apple TV. Dolby Atmos works just fine.

    Cheers.

Not getting audio from Live TV

    Hi Jake,

It sounds like something with the configuration of the soundbar might be causing some issues with the audio signal. Let me get a better picture of your setup it sounds like you are going with something like this.

    Cable Box>Xbox One>TV

Then with an HDMI Out from the TV to the Soundbar or is the Soundbar between the XBox One and the TV?

A couple things you should check:

    1) That you have any surround sound settings on your Soundbar set to DTS. There is also a surround sound toggle option in the LiveTV settings.

    2) That you have the matching sound setting on your cable box set so that all your devices working with the same type of signal.

The Xbox One works well with a variety of AVR type devices and there is a configuration option for them in the LiveTV settings.

    Vizio SB3851-D0 Smartcast38" Soundbar System (2016) model

Optical from Tv to Soundbar + Xbox to Tv HDMI

XBOX to Soundbar via HDMI, Soundbar to TV HDMI

XBOX To TV HDMI, TV to Soundbar HDMI (ARC)

I'm unable to send screenshots at this time, but with every combination I received The exact same error depicted by SpoopyJilan. Thank you for doing this, Much appreciated!
