  1. HDMI audio refuses to turn off or have 5.1 - 7.1 uncompressed audio

for some reason, HDMI audio refuses to turn off or let me choose the other options stated in the title. it'll just give me a "Check your audio receiver" message and put me back on stereo uncompressed. I haven't had this issue ever.

Dolby Digital decode & audio options

It does or at least the next update does.

    Settings-->Display & sound:

    - Digital Audio:

    1. HDMI audio (stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, Bitstream out)

    2. Optical audio (Off, Stereo uncompressed, Bitstream out)

-if u select Bitstream out (DTS Digital Surround, Dobly Digital)

    HDMI vs optical digital audio.

    Hey there,

HDMI has a much higher audio bandwidth than optical. HDMI is capable of transmitting uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 surround, basically sending the sound for each speaker separately. Optical however can only deliver compressed surround, so basically the console
has to compress the audio, then the receiver will have to decompress it the other end.

So if you have the option, use HDMI and set your console to uncompressed 5.1/7.1 rather than Dolby or DTS and Dolby and DTS are both compression methods for surround.

NO SOUND USING DOLBY ATMOS SOUNDBAR

If you're using an Xbox One or One S (not sure on the One X) the only Dolby Atmos support is the Headset out jack on the Xbox controller.

The HDMI audio out options on the Xbox are located here -

    - Settings > Display and Sound > Audio Output > (options) Off - Stereo uncompressed - 5.1 uncompressed - 7.1 uncompressed - Bitstream

You'll probably have to stick with Stereo uncompressed as the audio setting on the Xbox.

Based on page 14 of the manual of that sound bar, it only supports 2 channel input and it simulates 5.1 out

    No Audio

Setting> Display & Sound> Digital Audio says HDMI audio, I have tried all the settings to no avail and currently have it set to 7.1 uncompressed (PCM) with the optical audio off. Thanks
