Hdmi and Dvi problems

This is my first time making a post so sorry if this isn't in the right forums. I have a seiki tv and 3 HDMI ports on the back. When I have the HDMI setting selected on my xbox, the picture is shrunken down in the middle (black bars on both sides.) When
I switch to dvi setting on the xbox, the picture becomes normal size but not as clear. It likes the tv or the xbox thinks it's using dvi instead of HDMI. I am confused and need some help with this.

HDMI HELP!!!

Hi, I have 3 HDMI ports on my tv. HDMI / DVI HDMI 2 AND HDMI 3. When using HDMI / DVI i find that it interupts with my picture. When i look on the back of my tv i see the 3 ports labelled DVI HDMI 2 AND HDMI 3 i was using ''DVI'' probably the HDMI cable
is not ment to be plugged into a DVI port? So my question is does DVI not support HDMI? i get a fine picture when i go off the DVI port but i also get a distorted picture every so often. Now i have been using HDMI port 2 and i have had no problems. Anyone
know why i encountered that problem thanks!

Xbox One and VGA

If your monitor has a DVI input just get the adaptor hdmi to DVI. Why go to VGA and have possible problems and possible picture quality problems converting it to analog with VGA. Keep your source digital and go with DVI.

Are you connecting an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One to the TV?

On some TVs, if an HDMI-connected device is causing a shrunken output, there should be a TV setting that adjusts "overscan", which adjusts the size of the output on the screen.

@icestorm: ok, thanx. I also try a HDMI to DVI cable AND a DVI to VGA Adapter, so i get a HDMI to VGA. But i didnt get a picture or audio. My HDMI to DVi is a 21 pins, but the DVI to vga is 21+4 Pin Adapter. mybee thats the Problem????

DVI won't pass audio. Video only. Same as VGA.

I just had the same problem. It was down to the tv output being set to dvi rather than hdmi. Dvi doesn't carry audio so would require an optical cable.

Go in to picture setup and change it from DVI to HDMI

If your xbox has hdmi the get a dvi to hdmi cable or dvi to hdmi converter.
