  1. HDD wiped clean by latest download?

I still have issues's getting on Live. Nothing works unless I remove my HDD. I can then get on line and even reinstall my HDD. I've been playing WoT's and have to reinstall which takes a long time. My background screen when not playing stays gray. Is
there anything I can do to get my HDD back up and working? I have the earliest version of HDD for the 360. Buying a larger unit would not hurt my feelings.

    :)

  2. Kinect IR Emitter for TV/Cable Box control stopped working

A factory reset deletes everything off the internal HDD. Since the games you bought are stored in your account, you will be able to download the games again. It also wipes clean the user settings where the TV remote codes are wiped clean.

HDD wiped clean during download of a update

i turned the console on again to attempt to format the HDD, but for some reason now it actually accesed all the data that was in it, this seems to be really random atm

HDD wiped clean by latest download?

Can you see the files on your HDD?

If so try deleting your profile then redownloading it. When deleting make sure you select delete profile only.

Also check for corrupt files and delete them. Corrupt files have yellow exclamation marks by them. Just one corrupt file can cause the xbox to play up. I had a corrupt avatar file once and that caused my 360 to take over a minute to finish booting up.

Other than that you could try formatting the HDD although that would delete everything including your saves.

If a format doesn't work then your HDD could be knackered.

Sorry to hear you've encountered issues updating your console. Unfortunately it sounds like something has corrupted the HDD. It's important to ensure that the console is not still trying to update or install before turning off/resetting the console. It sounds
like the update may have been interrupted and corrupted the files on your hard drive.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I think that reformatting the drive is your only course of action. In the future, you can create backups of your saves with an external storage device (such as an external HDD or thumb drive). This may be a good idea
especially if you play for long periods without updating your console. If you stay connected, you can also take advantage of saving your games to cloud storage. I would wait for someone else to chime in a possible solution, just in case!
