  1. HDD Failure

so I apparently have a problem with my internal hard drive called hard drive failure and I read up on it and people say I have to take out the hard drive and replace it. But I was wondering if I could just take out the internal hard drive and just use my
external 2tb as my main storage instead

    :)

  2. HDD failure

Well, to update, I am unable to get the data from the HDD. This goes for trying to transfer from HDD to portable drive, to plugging to drive into my laptop and trying to pull it from there. Drive is empty, will not be buying a third one. 7 years of gameplay,
gone. Thanks Microsoft, see you soon Sony.

It is possible to move the info with a licensed transfer cable, but if the hard drive is damaged or burned out I don't know if it would work. I doubt it could hurt to try tough.

My console got 1 red ring but it works now

E68 is related to HDD failure, not console failure.

You could look into a replacement HDD, though if you have a pre-Jasper console a new console is probably a better idea.

    Hi Cerealbox,

Really sorry to hear you were unable to save the data from your old drive.

Sometimes when hard drives fail you can recover the data but it is not always possible.

    HDD failure

I have a transfer cable but haven't picked up a new HDD yet. It will boot with the drive on but it takes about 3 minutes and it doesn't recognize any of the content, but does recognize there is content on it. If it won't transfer with the cable, I'll try
with my laptop. Not really worried about warranty. I just want my saves back.

    HDD failure

If you can get the console to start with the drive in you can transfer stuff to a flash drive. If you can't get it started then you can try the transfer cable like PLAGUE suggested. If neither of those work there's a last chance emergency option, the hard
drives are actually regular laptop hard drives, you can take it out of the shell and try to copy the data using a computer, though I'm not certain that will work even if the computer can recognize it and it would void the warranty on the new drive.
