HDCP issues with Live TV only

I have scoured the internet for the past few days looking for a solution, and have found none, so here goes...

Things were working GREAT for about a month, but suddenly I powered up my xbox one from standby only to immediately find the error - "Your HDTV does not support HDCP. Please disconnect the HDMI connector and use the component YPrBr connection to continue
    watching TV."

This error is being reported by my cable box, as it's displayed through the STBx's interface. Here's the weird thing: if I power down and immediately power on my STB, it goes away and all is good. So while not a crippling problem, it completely defeats
the point of using instant on for my TV and cable, as I have to reach for a remote. I have tried setting to "energy saving" mode, restarting, then putting it back to instant on, but to no avail. Plugging the STB directly into the TV doesn't present any problems,
so I know it's something to do with how it's talking to the XB1, and HDCP is somehow a culprit here...

    Here's my setup:

    Provider - Comcast

Layout - STB > XB1 > TV (no splitters, receivers, capture devices, etc.!)

    STB - Cisco RNG150N

    TV - Vizio 42in M420SV

Any help would be greatly appreciated - Comcast is no use to me, I've already tried. Just told that they can't diagnose the problem with the XB1 in the mix.

    :)

    HDCP issues

Tivo Premiere > XBox One > Samsung TV. Starting about 2 weeks ago, I've been having a bunch of HDCP issues. When watching TV through Tivo/X1 passthrough, the image/sound pauses every few seconds. And I can only watch <5 seconds of Netflix video before getting
an HDCP error. Finally, I'm having issues purchasing Vudu content through X1. This is all very recent. Changing the source on my TV does not fix the HDCP issue, and rebooting the X1 doesn't fix either. The only fix seems to be to reboot the Tivo Premiere,
which has a long restart cycle. Please fix! Or downgrade the fix/upgrade that caused this issue please. Anyone else experiencing this?

TV has HDMI but doesn't support HDCP

@Lestat...considering DVI didn't exist until 1999 and Intel only began developing HDCP in 2001, for a gradual rollout with HDMI (developed in 2002) and forced compliance only began in 2006...well...NO ONE has had a HDCP compliant TV "for over 15 years".
In fact, HDCP compliant computer monitors only began general production in 2005.

    .

In fact, any HDTV that's more than 7-10 years old is very likely to not be HDCP compliant at all.

Try doing a hard reset on your console by holding the ower button on the front until it turns off then unplug it from the outlet for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug it back in and power back on. Hopefully your tv issue will be fixed.

I've already tried a hard reset, using both this method, as well as turning off instant on to do a power cycle. Still having the same problem.

Just to back up ManhattanSonata I am having the same issue with my set up. I have a TiVo with Cable Cards installed and will get the same message. The simple fix for me is to unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in.

Also I have had the TV completely bomb out on me while watching something. An error message poped up saying something about having to Turn off the TV. After a restart everything was working. That particular problem only happned once.

  7. Hey guys! Sorry this issue popped up. I see a lot of you have done troubleshooting and helping each other out. One thing to try is simply quitting the TV App.

    • Hit the Menu button on the app
    • Select Quit
Relaunch up the app and it should work for you.

I'd also like to gather some things from you. Would you mind posting back your STB (set top box) information, as well as who you get your cable through? I need as much info as I can. ManhattanSonata - I got yours, so don't worry too much about you!

Thanks so much, guys! Let me know if this works or if it doesn't. We want to get this fixed up for you.

Are you using the X1 platform from Comcast or one of it's buddy boxes? I'm just wondering what cable box code your using for it. I typed in C1982 and it popped up no problem almost instantly.

No, I just have normal cable service, with no DVR. My STB model is listed above. Everything worked fine for at least a month, so I don't think that the code had anything to do with it, as one day it just started having problems. If I recall, this was
right about the time when the July update was released.

Misses Quinzel, I will try that tonight to see if that does anything. Like I said before, powering the STB off then back on after the Xbox is on also works.

Its just annoying because I watch tv when I cook, so having everything turn on and work with one voice command was extremely helpful and convenient while it was working.

  11. Thanks so much, ManhattanSonata! Can you also let me know what exactly you're doing when it brings it up, please? The more info, the better!

It happens when I turn the Xbox on from its low power state. It doesn't happen when its on energy saving mode - only in instant on mode. The error message is displayed by my cable box, not the Xbox.

    Thanks!

HDCP issues with Live TV only

Once I turn the cable box on and off, all is good and it works like nothing ever happened. Typically, tv was the last used app when i shut down, so it is the one to automatically open when someone turns on the Xbox from standby.

  14. Beautiful, ManhattanSonata! I will pass this along.

Anyone else, please continue to give me information! I want to make sure I have everything I can get. Thank you!

I have the same problem. It was working fine until the latest update came out. Now I receive the HDCP error from the TiVo box every time I turn the xbox on and try to watch live tv. I have tried resetting the cables and power cycling. Turning the tv off
and back on was working but now it is not. Quitting the tv app doesn't solve it. I have tried restarting the TiVo box as well. I have an LG tv, pioneer vsx822 receiver, and TiVo pace px001bnt
