HDCP error on hooking up DVR through xbox and AV receiver

I just bought a new receiver in order to use my xbox one with surround sound for both TV and games (I'd previously been using it hooked up directly to the TV for a few weeks first). I get sound but no video (occasional snow flicker but mostly just a blank
screen). A couple of times I've reset the STB and I see the initialization UI from Frontier but then lose the video once it gets through to TV. I've tried different hdmi cables and unplugging all devices completely. I've seen this error a couple of times
right before the video cuts out on STB reset:

"The HD Content Protection of your repeater has been compromised. All devices connect to the Repeater will not be authorized to receive video over the digital link"

Based on some other posts I found, this might be an issue with my DVR box. I tried calling Frontier but they basically said the scenario wasn't really supported and they didn't have an alternate box that would work.

Broken configuration:

• DVR->xbox->Receiver->TV

Working configurations:

• DVR->xbox->TV
• DVR->receiver->TV
• xbox->receiver->TV

DVR -- Motorola QIP 72161

Receiver -- Sony STR DH750

TV -- Samsung UN60C6300

Is there something I should specifically tell Frontier when calling to get them to give me a box that'll work? Could it be power levels on the hdmi signal (one person suggested that as a fix on one forum post)? Could it be the specific receiver I chose
(I can still return it for another week)? Any suggestions anyone has are appreciated as I'd like to be able to watch my TV through my xbox with surround sound.

So if you don't need to worry about hooking up a box through the HDMI in on the X1, just go through the AV receiver and let it handle everything.

If the AV Reciever doesn't support 4k pass through that'll be the problem or if the AV receiver isn't HDCP 2.2 compliant. Try connecting the One S directly to the TV's input

 

I ended up escalating this issue with Frontier. They connected me with someone who said that my specific setup was not supported because of the HD content security protection they put in place. However, they suggested that I could connect the xbox directly
to the TV and use an optical cable to run the sound to the receiver.

I had assumed I'd have issues syncing the sound and video with this config but it has worked well for me. Additionally, I had assumed that xbox one was using hdmi cec for controlling the other devices but it's actually using IR so it can still turn my receiver
on and off.

Anyway, my issues is no resolved and I'm happy with my setup. Hopefully this suggested fix would help others.

 

I have the same problems with my setup, except with a Frontier Fios TV Arris DVR QIP7232. You might be happy with your solution, but I am certainly not! Having to switch HDMI inputs sometimes on the receiver and sometimes on the TV sucks.
