HD-DVD Player

Hi I have been trying to play one of my HDDVD disc and not having any luck. The HD player shows up under my video apps and apps, the green light on the player is on, it opens to accept the disc closes then nothing. I hope that MS hasn't disabled the player
on purpose as though the format did not succeed We did make the somewhat expensive investment into the player and the HD discs and will cost us money to replace the videos we purchased in HDDVD format. (for instance over $80 just for the planet earth disc!)
Just because the format failed it doesn't mean that we were not using the products we paid for!

xbox 360 slim

I regret to inform you that Xbox 360 S console cannot play HD DVDs. You still need to have an HD DVD player for you to be able to play HD DVDs. However, Microsoft Xbox does not sell Xbox 360 HD DVD player anymore.

 

It would be pretty cool if the HD-DVD played 360 disc games too

Can you even get HD-DVDs? Yes. Amazon and eBay, for example.

Run Xbox 360 games? No.

Use HD-DVD Player on the PC? Yes, but only for CD/DVD/HD-DVD.

 

Sorry to hear it. If your update has failed please follow the steps at the link below to update your console via usb/cd.

I had the same problem but could not find out why, I now have an XBOX 1 and need to find out if this hd-dvd player will work on the new box you would think that Microsoft would make it easer to find out about this sort of problem

 

For future reference it would be better to create a new thread instead of bumping older ones.

In the meantime, I do not believe that tech for the 360 will be compatible on the Xbox One.
