    Dear all users,

    I am a fan of HD-DVD player, and movies. Even If it's over since 10 years !

    I have a great collection and I don't want to throw them...

    I am sure the codec VC-1 and interface to read HD-DVD on a Xbox One could be easy... just adding the same code already present on Xbox360

    So please Microsoft, could you hear my request ?

    People who still have a Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player would love to use it again.

    Hi Ouligars!

    Unfortunately, the Xbox will not play HD DVD's without the Xbox HD DVD player. I have one and they are certainly hard to find these days. If you have the Xbox HD DVD player, then a HD DVD app will appear in the Video tab. As far as I know, non-Xbox HD DVD
    players are unsupported on the 360.

    Of course, if you meant you found the Xbox HD DVD player, then as stated above, you will find the app for it in the My Video tab... Hope this helps!

    I regret to inform you that Xbox 360 S console cannot play HD DVDs. You still need to have an HD DVD player for you to be able to play HD DVDs. However, Microsoft Xbox does not sell Xbox 360 HD DVD player anymore.

    I actually have the Xbox HD-DVD player and a decent library of movies. Is the HD-DVD player not compatible with the Xbox One? Its not really that big of a deal if it isn't it just would have been nice.

    The HD DVD player was released for the Xbox 360 during the middle of the "format wars" between HD DVD and Blu-Ray, and Blu-Ray was the ultimate victor.





    If you want to continue using that player, you'll have to hook it up to another working Xbox 360 console.

    There are no plans or announcements to add support for the HD DVD player on the Xbox One. There hasn't been a movie released on HD DVD since 2008, and you can get the same movies on Blu-Ray or streamed online anyway.

    Can you even get HD-DVDs? Yes. Amazon and eBay, for example.

    Run Xbox 360 games? No.

    Use HD-DVD Player on the PC? Yes, but only for CD/DVD/HD-DVD.
