    Having trouble with 5.1 and the TV app


    I searched around and wasn't able to find anything recent that seemed to help me.

    Here is my setup:

    Cable box: TWC Motorola HD dual tuner DVR model #: DCH6416

    SRS System: Klipsch GMXD-5.1 (link to specs ProMedia GMX D-5.1 Computer Speaker System | Klipsch)

    My cablebox is going into the XB1 via HDMI, the XB1 is going into the TV via HDMI, and the XB1 is going audio out via optical cable to my SRS system directly.

    My settings are as follows:

    Under Display and Sound, HDMI audio is off, Optical audio is on bitstream out, bitstream format is Dolby digital.

    Under TV and Onguide--Audio and Video, audio is on Surround Sound.

    Currently I'm getting SRS when I play my XB1 games (Halo MCC), but when I watch TV, I'm only getting audio out my front left ams front righspeakers.

    My speakers perform perfectly when alone with my PS4, cable box, ps3, and 360. I have no idea what this isn't working.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is any other information that I can provide, please let me know. Thank you!

    I'm having the same issue. I had the HomeWorx connected to my Xbox and I had 5.1 audio from most HD channels, probably because it was via HDMI. Now, there is no 5.1 audio via USB. My opinion, the TV app needs to be updated to support 5.1 audio via USB.

    Video lag with blu ray app on xbox one

    I'm having real trouble syncing the sound and video on the blu ray app. The video lags behind the sound. I've tried 5.1 and dts but doesn't help. The only thing that syncs it is fast fwd the blu ray then rewind each time I start a disc. I run it through
    a home theatre but it also is a problem directly into the tv. Any help?

    5.1 audio HDMI not avilable on Xbox one? Are you serious?

    When watching TV, go to the settings using the menu button and then select "Troubleshooting". In that area there is an option to select 5.1 (Beta) and that will restore 5.1 to TV.

    You guys are off topic. The prob is not getting the 5.1 option to appear or not. I too have the same prob as the OP, which is about getting an error when selecting the 5.1 option. I have my xbox connected to my tv with hdmi, and then my tv outputted to
    my receiver with optical. Selecting 5.1 with this setup gives me an error. I also have my ps3 setup this way and have no prob with 5.1 audio. Is this what you see too op?

    Seriously MS please fix the surround sound issue on the Xbox One...very disappointed :(

    run your sound from your tv optical out to your receiver optical in......don't use the xbox for outputting sound.....just run the hdmi from the xbox to your tv.......I had trouble with the surround until I did this and now I'm getting surround (5.1 in my

    in 2.1 why wouldn't the Xbox be smart enough to mix the sound through all the channels of audio if the program only does 2.1
