Having trouble switching account ownership from my fathers email to mine

My profile is currently attached to my fathers email address. I want my profile to be attached to my email address instead. I have tried all of the steps to transfer the account but it just gives me an obscure error code that tells me to wait 24 hours and
try again.

My fathers email address is an @msn.com email address. Why is this happening???????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Xbox One Sign-in

I tried signing into my xbox account on the xbox one and I was told to put my pass key in. I used the pass key I had set and then it asked me to put in my Microsoft account password. I changed the email the light prior because it was my fathers so, I changed
it to mine. Then I put in the password it was for my fathers email then I tryed my passwords none worked. Please help

 

Gamertag associated with Email - inconvenient situation (need help)

I tried to do a quick search here but didn't see a similar situation posted, apologies in advance if it's been discussed already. I'll explain my situation below and summarize my experience with chat support. Please let me know if anyone has any alternatives or even a different escalation path I can try to take to resolve this.

Note: This isn't the typical scenario where one wants to change the email associated with a GT and it can only be done via XB360 - that's basically all I found when searching online for my situation.

I originally made my primary gamertag (MadworldET) several years ago, using my father's email address - I've been using this tag as my primary ever since and have accumulated a little over 100,000 GS and many purchases so I'm fairly attached to it to say the least. The inconvenience is, I am now 26 years old, have my own primary email account with everything MS related associated to it; Win10 PC login, cloud, contacts, etc. but this email has a dummy GT I also made years ago playing with a buddy locally at my house. So I log into my PC using my primary email address but then need to re-login to the XBOX app or MS Strore using my father's email address to ensure any purchase or progression is tied to my primary GT. It's a little convoluted but to make it simple:

Father's Email address is associated with my Primary GT.
My Primary Email address is associated with an old unused GT.

Obviously, I want my Primary Email and Primary GT linked. So I need to get rid of the GT currently associated with it, and move my Primary GT.

Some additional information:

• I cannot utilize the Alias function because both emails have a GT associated.
• I've been told I cannot un-link the GT with my primary account without closing the account completely.
• Chat support suggested I make a new email address to link my Primary GT to but think this would only reproduce the underlined situation above.
  • I realize I could make a new account and migrate everything to it and then update all of my contacts, accounts linked to email, applications, etc with my new email information, but am hoping that's not the only solution as it'd be quite an effort for what I believe should be a simple migration.
• I understand the security concern here, but am willing to comply with any requests for proof of ownership tied to either account; Anything from basic account information to photo ID, I wouldn't mind providing this, and can appreciate that these rules are here to protect us.

Any solution or escalation path I can pursue that's more efficient than starting from scratch with a new email address?

Yes I did. I have tried doing the method on the console but it still does not work. I have spent about 2 months trying to find a solution to the problem by talking to xbox support but they said that there is nothing they can do. I have a hard time believing
this. I wish I could talk to someone at Microsoft who could actually switch the profile from my fathers email to mine, but so far xbox support has just told me to do things that I knew how to do already.

 

Please ensure there are no other services on that account (eg. Office 365). There are a list of things that would prevent the changing of an email address on an Xbox gamertag. Check the link below for more information.

No. Neither of the two accounts have any services or billing account associated with them. The account that I want my profile switched to does not currently have a profile associated with it either. I have taken all necessary steps to ensure that I could
switch my xbox profile over to a different email but nothing has worked. Every time I try to transfer the account it gives me an obscure error code.

 

What are the error codes you receive?

 

I forget the error code, but when I told the xbox support person over the phone she said that all it stated was that I had to wait 24 hours and try to transfer the profile again. I waited 24 hours and tried to transfer my profile and the same error code
showed up. This is why I am at such a major roadblock because I honestly believe that someone at Microsoft needs to transfer the profile "manually".

 

Without an error code we can't even begin to help you. I'm afraid you may have to brave phone support again.

Okay the error code is 80154023. As you can see, this tells me nothing. And I have contacted xbox support and they told me that they couldn't do anything. I need to know who I can contact that will actually fix the problem.

 

Great, I see the error now. I think the best place you should post to is at the link below. It is a Microsoft answer forum. Your issue is with the email address so they should either be able to help you or point you in the right direction.
