Having trouble signing in, just on my profile

On our xbox 360, I am the parent account and my kids each have an account as well. Only my son has xbox live, which I most recently renewed in July and had been working fine. Recently, when he tried to get on his xbox live account, it said there was a new
security agreement that the parent had to agree to, and it asked for my username/password which I entered. I got an error that my username/password was incorrect. I tried enough times that I know it wasn't mis-typed, and I know I was remembering it properly
because I went to the PC and was able to sign on to xbox/microsoft there without any problem. I have reset my password and tried again, still xbox won't accept it. In fact, not only can I not accept the agreement for my son to use his xbox live, but the 360
won't even let me sign on to my own account to play games or change settings. I would try to delete/re-download my profile as I read on here to do, but it won't let me do that either.

I am having trouble signing into my 360 profile,this happened after I changed my password.

Hey there Kaiken! I understand you are having some trouble signing in to your profile. Does this happen for every profile on your console or just yours? Have you tried downloading and signing in on another console, and do you see the same issue there?

Also, is this account a child account? Is the parent account on the same console, and is it having any trouble downloading or signing in on the console as well? Let me know, thanks!

It is unfortunate that you cannot access your profile. Often as the parent you need to agree to any new security agreements on your profile too - but alas if you can't access it I assume that won't help.

Below are the directions you are probably referring to:

1. Remove profile - SETTINGS page (far right from home page), select STORAGE, then find your profile and remove.

2. While in your hard drive under GAMES & APPS look for any red or yellow icons with incomplete or unknown. Delete them. (This may include the game you are trying to fix)

3. Clear System Cache - SETTINGS page, select STORAGE and highlight a drive but don't select it. Press Y and select Clear System Cache. Agree when asked.

4. Be Patient - turn your console off for a full minute. This assists in resetting the console.

5. Turn on the console and download your profile - it is the icon next to 'create a profile'.

You could try and follow the directions but skip the delete/download of the profile. In that way if the system has a minor glitch it may fix it.

Please note if you change your password it can take a period of time for it to be recognised on the console. I've heard if you run a connection test it can force the new data to arrive at the console quicker. Settings > System > Network Settings

There have been a few outages in the last couple of days but they are being worked on.

Thank you for taking the time to help. I followed your directions and successfully deleted my profile. I cleared the system cache, looked for any games/apps that needed deleting (there were none). However, when I went to download my profile, it is still
telling me the password is incorrect. I tried several times to make sure I was typing it correctly, paying attention to CAPS, etc, so I know there was not a typing error. I came back to the computer and signed out/back in to make sure I had the password correct,
which I do. Still unable to use it on the xbox. I have changed my password twice over the last 2 weeks in case there was an issue with the password, so I am not planning to change it again as obviously that is not going to fix the issue. The last time I changed
it was almost a week ago, so I'm sure it has had time to update.

 

I wanted to bump this up in case anyone can help. My son has been unable to use his xbox live account for almost 2 months now because of this issue and I've been unable to get any support to resolve it. I've gone through all the steps listed above, have
reset password a few times. Any suggestions on who to contact to resolve the issue? Thanks.
