Having trouble setting up my Xbox One Original

Maybe I am doing something wrong, maybe not. I'm going to go into detail since the last tech support person I asked couldn't get his head around my issue.

I have a pre-2016 Xbox One 1TB Special Edition - Call of Duty Advanced Warfare model. I bought it when I was overseas in Dubai and came home on New Years of 2016 and haven't used the system since. I reconnected it a few days ago and did a full system reset
because I didn't remember my passwords and honestly couldn't remember where I left off on the games I was playing.

The initial configuration started where it goes through Language, Location, Update check and you get to the Account entering section of the setup. I can enter my email address just fine. I can enter my password just fine. My issue comes when I am required
to receive a security passcode via email, text or call. When that 3rd screen appears and my keyboard is at the bottom for me to enter the security code, the "focus" (green highlighted box) is on the button that says "Used a different option", not the blank
field where my security code goes.

This may be where I am doing something wrong. I cannot get the green highlight to move to the security code box. In fact, I cannot get the cursor that moves around the keyboard to even go on the top half of the screen. As I make keyboard selections, they
do not populated in the correct field so I can never get past this point.

Tech Support had me download the Offline Software Update 2 file (OSU2) and try a manual update. I immediately got an E101 error that told me to use the OSU1 file instead. Over the last 3 days I have been doing this and my problem is not gone away. I
still cannot move the focus to the empty security code section so I can get past this part.

Any help or suggestions? This machine was only used for about 3 months then been stored in it's original packaging ever since.

Can you press "B" to go back until the Keyboard closes?

Not sure about the 2 step verification, but I am already doing it via email and phone text to get the security code. With the highlight or focus on the "Use a different Option" button, it is the only selection I can make to return to the previous screen
to choose another option. Know what I mean? I cannot enter the security code. I cannot seem to move to the top half of the screen to move the focus to the blank field to populate the code.

As for creating another account, did that too. Once I get back to this screen, I cannot move the cursor to the blank field to populate the code. Either there is some software glitch in the update on the Xbox One originals or I'm just dumb and can't figure
out how to get the cursor there.

If I backed up it would take me to the previous screen but when I came back it would be the same issue. (read further - something else happened)

Hey Joey,

Try using your left thumbstick to move your selection. Just press up a couple times and it should highlight the text box for your resume typing. If that does not work, there may be a technical issue associated with your Xbox. Maybe you can contact

Xbox Support once more and have them reference this image on your forum post to get a better idea of the issue!

Hi,

That is frustrating for sure, You may have to do what was suggested and update via usb flash drive, You could also try to remove the home Xbox being associated to your account from the device list in account settings, Then factory reset the Xbox again and
see if it lets you set it as a new one, The option to send it in for servicing may also work, Since it's an older model the warranty wouldn't cover things so you may have to pay out of pocket
