Having trouble playing with guests at your house? Unplug the Kinect!

When I have multiple friends over we like to play nba 2k14 one vs one (winner gets to play next game). When we do this some1 has to sign in as the guest via kinect recognizing their face. There is a major flaw with this functionality... when they leave the
screen and pass the controller to some1 else we have to start the guest signing in process all over. Simply unplug the kinect from the beginning and pass the controller around as you would on your 360.

If you guys are having trouble signing into your profile disconnect your kinect and unplug the xbox one while it is still on it worked for me.

 

Why cant I unplug the Kinect?

I don't see why everyone is hatting on the Kinect2 I rather enjoy my Kinect for 360. I can easily navigate Netflix and play games like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 without having to pause the game and select my skills rather just saying what I want to use or
were to comrades should go and what they should do. And I'm in the military and live in the barracks so I don't have a lot of room to start with but can make due and have great fun playing Kinect Adventures and Sonic Riders with all my friends having a party
and good time. Ill admit, I haven't read all the posts here I've just read a few here and there on some pages and most just hating on it. So call my a fanboy or what ever, but I'm looking forward to having my Kinect2 come with my console instead of having
to buy it separately.

 

Try playing Lego Marvel its dreadful if someone walk in front of you then you sign out. Or even if you pass the controller you sign out. Such a stupid feature that just ruins games more than helps.

 

Exactly. There needs to be a feature to automatically sign you in AND turn off kinect sign-in

 

Or, put a small piece of paper over the camera lense?? Much easier.....

 

Heh? How would that help when the camera is plugged in? It wouldn't let guests sign in to begin with and would get confused.

You can sign guests in without the camera....have you tried?? It just doesn't do the auto sign in, you do it manually, you know, like when you unplug the camera??

 

Galactic Geek - how do you not use guest profiles to play multi-player on the same screen? you need some user id for them to play and with the kinect plugged in you have to sign them in with kinect. then the kinect gets confused when they leave the screen

I have 3 accounts on my xbox 1. I'm the main user so with the other accounts just go into settings on their accounts and turn off Kinect sign in. Haven't tested it yet but I'm sure it will work. So you can turn Kinect sign in off, it's in sign in preferences
in settings...

 

I guess that would work. Still super annoying that you have to create 3 accounts to do that.

 

I agree it needs to be smoother use, every time they would walk in front of the Kinect it signed them in. As far as the guest part I only dealt with that once. It had some kinks in it. It was trying to say I was the guest?

 

You can cover the camera lense and log in manually, I do ot all the time, it is quite easy to do.....

[/quote]Simple, I either retrieve their old accounts or make them new ones. I also turn off Kinect's camera sign-in feature. I sign in & out using voice commands.
