Having trouble getting Xbox to read game discs.

As the title states, I am having trouble getting my Xbox to read game discs. Some discs will read fine and others I have to open and close the tray several times before it will work. Some dont even work after that. This happens despite having played the
games just fine the day before. And no, there are no scratches or fingerprints on the disc.

It only started after the last update on December 4th. This is not an issue with my disc reader and is obviously a software issue, so, please do not direct me to the troubleshooting guide.

Does anyone know if Xbox/Microsoft is looking into this? I noticed that they are currently addressing sign in/server connection issues but saw no mention of the issue above.

Xbox One Discs Sometimes Won't Read - Repeatable scenario!

I'm having this problem too, but only with Xbox 360 discs, Xbox One discs are read instantly, but I have to keep ejecting the 360 discs and reinserting them about 20 times before they read, it's getting very annoying now

My game does have the ring but I have it installed on my Xbox I'm just having trouble getting my Xbox to read the disc

This is been my issue as well since the update and I've gotten no answers unfortunately. Though I have noticed around other forums that this is not an issue just isolated to us.

Eliminate all the obvious solutions before parting with your console for repair.

Basically to start some TLC is needed. Unplug your console and storage devices (sometimes USB devices can be a factor) blow/clean out the vents and ports. Be sure not to touch any connections, just use a dry dust cloth or vacuum or air can. When you’re
done re-position both your console and psu somewhere with adequate ventilation.
Test different games and formats like DVD movies and music CDs. If it’s having trouble reading discs use a lens cleaner several times and test again. ‘Hopefully it was just some dirt’. If you were having issues with music CDs I’d recommend you check out

If you’re having trouble with a specific disc you should ensure it’s not scratched by testing it at the retailers or friends. You can look at getting a replacement if it is

If it’s still unable to read any games consistently as intended it’s recommended that you submit a repair request with Microsoft

have you tried using a CD laser cleaner that you can buy from any good retailer or online for 1-4 pounds on ebay or cheap stores i.e. discount

this is to make sure that its just dirty and this can be the cause

im having the same issue, are some games not reading and others working just fine? please reply dont want to get yet another replacement disc or repair my xbox 360.
