Having trouble connecting to Xbox Live.

Ok so on 9/20 I had no problem playing XBL and everything was going fine.

Logged off for the night and went to play it on 9/21. Noticed Xbox was loading slowly and when it did load I wasn't connected to XBL so I went to check my status and ran the test. When I got the Xbox Live Connection Error. So I turned off my counsel and
reset my router but that didn't work either. My roommate suggested that XBL was down for maintenance and to try it later.

9/22 came home from work to play some XB still loading slowly and still not connecting to XBL so I went into my roommates room and tried his 360. His loaded up fine and connected to XBL right away.

Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to do.

Does anyone have suggestions cause I'm out of ideas.

Hey there, that does sound odd, was there any error code or message when it wasn't connecting? A few things that can help, firstly I would suggest resetting the network settings to default, just to make sure none of that information is conflicting.

Restore Network Defaults

1. Press the Guide Button on your controller, go to Settings.

2. Select System Settings then Network Settings.

3. Select Wired Network or your wireless network when displayed.

4. Select Configure Network then Additional Settings tab.

5. Select Restore to Factory Defaults then confirm when prompted.

If that doesn't work another fix that can help with this is deleting the profile from the console (profile only), clear the system cache, restart the console and re-download the profile.

Delete and re-download profile:
support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

Clear system cache:
support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

Though if you are getting an error code, probably best to post that as well!

 

I get the error code 80151911. When I run the test it says Live Connection Error.

Restoring to Factory Defaults didn't work so I deleted my profile and cleared the cache only to find out I couldn't redownload it because my xbox couldn't connect to xbox live.

 

So in the connection test does it see the internet and just not Xbox Live?

Also when you try to download your profile, does it seem to actually start the process and then it can't connect to Xbox Live? If so, when it says it can't connect while trying to download the profile, test the connection again and hopefully it will connect
to Live and continue the download process.

Another thing, have you checked your storage device for any corrupt files or partial profile downloads? You should be available to tell if it's corrupt by a yellow triangle I think, others with that error code have had failing storage devices and transferring
to a USB seemed to help.

 

I checked my HDD none of the files were corrupted.

 

My 360 is no longer a problem. I sold that *** and got a new one so it's someone else problem now.
