    Having multiple Xbox home consoles across generations?


    I have 3, well soon to be 3, generations of Xbox consoles; 360, One X and Series X. With the Xbox One generation we were able to set one console as the home Xbox to be able to play owned downloaded games offline. I was wondering how this would transition
    to the new generation. Would we only be able to have one home Xbox across generations? Or a home console for the One generation then a home console for the Series X|S generation? Wouldn’t effect 360, but it would with One and Series. Hoping it doesn’t cause
    I intend on giving my One X to my nephew and my sister they have metered internet that has a data cap unfortunately.

    According to the support site, you can play a digital game from any XB1 console, but you must be signed into Xbox LIVE. If it's your home console however, (ie. the one you've designated at your home Xbox) anyone can play it regardless of whether or not your
    profile is signed in.

    In other words, from what I've gathered, licenses work in a similar fashion as the 360, with games being tied to your XBL account and to your home console.

    Home gold will only work for the one console that is set as the Home console. It's not possible to share gold across multiple consoles.

    Hi there.

    For the online gaming, anyone can play online on the console that you dedicate as your Home console while you play online on the other console.

    So yes, you would want your family members to play on the Home console while you are on the other.

    As for digital games, you would have to make sure you have sharing set up on the Home Console so others can play.

    Xbox game sharing does not goes well with MS family and parental control features.

    The home sharing feature is designed to be used on one console within the same household. Unfortunately, you have found the limitation of trying to use it across multiple consoles.
