Having more than one profile signed into xbox one

This is driving me mad - had a 2+ hrs chat with support about this issue and got no resolution

I have an xboxone with 2 controllers

There are 4 profiles on the xboxone

I don't and do not want to assign a controller to any one profile - doesn't help with my problem anyway

Prior to the dashboard update my son was able to pick up controller 2 and sign into his profile on the xbox one when I was already signed in on controller 1

This is not possible now

Why is this and how can it be dealt with

"You are not Connected to Xbox Live"

I having the same problem im signed into my profile and it wont connect to xbox live but when im not signed in it connects.

im also on xbox one

 

Backwards compatibility question

You can login, make sure you are logged into a profile on your xbox one, then hit the back and start (view and menu) buttons in x360 mode... That brings up the option to sign into profiles and download profiles.

Even if you use another xbox 360 it should let you login to a xbox 360 profile and it should just say it was last signed in on another system. I'd make sure you are signed into a profile, if you are trying splitscreen stuff make sure your friend signs into his xbox one profile before then signing into his xbox 360 profile.

Awkward, but it works. Been busting up borderlands splitscreen in bc for a couple days.

Can you clarify what happens your son tries to sign into their profile with a second controller? Is there an error message you receive when you try to sign in or are you just trying to use a guest account?

 

thanks for the response, when he powers on the second controller and presses the xbox button - it's like I have pressed the xbox button on my controller - there is no option for him to sign in just to sign me out - no error messages

 

Hey J0lly Bh0y j0n! After he has signed in, does pressing the Xbox button on each controller switch between your accounts? Can you post some screenshots so we can take a look at what you're seeing? Thanks!
