Having issues with Network Connectivity, Xbox one might be broken permanently?

Hey all, last night I tried to log on as normal but it wouldn't connect to the wifi.

The steps I took last night were as follows:

1) I tested the network connection

2) I restarted the router multiple times

3) I hard reset my xbox multiple times

4) I tried plugging in the ethernet cable to have a wired connection but that didn't work, it told me to take it out and wait 30 seconds repeatedly.

Nothing seemed to be working so finally I gave up and did a "Reset and keep my games & apps" option.
However, when I went to go through the initial xbox install process, it stopped on "Check for Updates" and can't find the wifi at all to download an update.

So now I'm worried that I've completely fudged it. Is this a common problem with old (5 yearsish) xbox ones? If I buy a new one, would it fix the issue?

A few added bits of information for you:

1) My wifi connects fine with my PS4 and my Nintendo Switch so its definitely just an Xbox One problem.

2) My xbox one connected fine the day before it seemed to be broken.

3) I think the only issue is that it can't recognise the wifi anymore.

Try connecting to your mobile phone network just to find out if it will work for the update.

That sounds bad, really bad. It is not something that happens usually, but maybe your network card broke, or some issue with the electricity affected the network card or the console at some level.

You could send it to have it fixed, but being honest with you, I would recommend searching for an Xbox One S or All Digital deal and in the near future move to a Series X.

Other thing that you can try, as you cannot update now, would be updatig offline following this steps : https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/.../system-update-solution/offline-system-update

Then, check if something changed or not.

Hope this will fix the issue, but from all you have described, I don't have high hopes sadly.

I had the same issues as well, xbox was recently updated, working up to the day before, but was giving intermittent connectivity issues for a few days in front (fixed with hard reboot), then wham! my network card is hard broken.

I tried resetting the entire system, which should in theory, reset the card, but this did not fix the issue either. Both wired and wireless connections are undetected.

Now I’m left with a system that will not load with a failed network card. At this point, I’m ready to toss the system unless someone has a fix.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give the offline update a go and will let you know.

Honestly, I'm not too sad about it, I've had it a long time and got years of enjoyment out of it. I just want to make sure that if I do go ahead and buy a new one, It won't be a repeating issue.
