Having issues connecting Xbox One controller (elite) wirelessly to PC

I've been having an issue connecting my Xbox One controller (elite) to my PC. It comes on for a brief second, connects to the wireless adapter, and then disconnects again.

Here's a list of things I've done or had happen while troubleshooting it (in no particular order):

-checked wired connection- it was ok

-the typical reboot PC- no luck

-uninstall drivers for both the controller and the wireless adapter. It works on until the controller disconnects fro being idle, then goes back to only connecting for a brief second

-checked both the adapter and controller on another computer, they worked just fine

-checked the elite's batteries in other controllers, work just fine

-Tried connecting another regular Xbox controller, it disconnected the same as the elite

-the device manager wasn't registering it as an xbox one controller, said it was a generic Xinput HID controller, I manually searched for the xbox one driver and installed it, worked until the controller went idle, then goes back to only connecting for a brief
second.

-early on when the issue first started there was some conflict with visual C++ runtime library, I uninstalled any packages dated earlier than 2010 and updated the rest, and it removed that issue

-When I check the event log in says: device not migrated due to partial or ambiguous connection

Anyway, I'm at a loss of what to do now to troubleshoot the problem.

Can you connect a Bluetooth Headset to Xbox One S controller

It will not work for headsets.

The Bluetooth capabilities are for connecting the controller to a PC wirelessly.

 

New white xbox elite controller

Heard there was a new xbox one elite controller that's in white coming in a week or so, I personally use an xbox one controller for pc gaming wirelessly since it has bluetooth. Wondering if the new white one will come with bluetooth? Don't wanna buy the
wireless thingy lol

Sounds like you have done some pretty extensive troubleshooting with the controller so far. Let's try to roll back the update with these steps:

• Right click Windows Logo, then choose Device Manager.
  
• Expand the category, right click on the driver and select properties.
  
• Navigate to driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver.

Please let us know if that helps with the device connecting and being recognized.

Yes, I am on windows 10 and using the original model of the Xbox One Windows 10 wireless adapter (the fat one).

Yes, I have done all these steps with the wireless adapter as well, save for swapping it out for another one, which I don't have.
