Having issues connecting to the internet? Heres an easy fix!

Hey guys, I just want to give some useful advice to people having issues connecting to the internet with their consoles, I want to let you know that 99% of networking errors that happen on the Xbox are actually not because there is something wrong with the
console, but because the router or modem (Sometimes both) has been on too long, and there are log files which take up so much room they eventually make the router glitch. So the easiest ways to fix it are:

    1. Master reset the Modem/Router

    2. Do a firmware update on the Modem/Router

    3. Find "Disable Logging" On your router, and make sure its Disabled. If you can not find this, then logging is enabled by default, and you can not disable it (Mainly in new routers, this is what is causing the issue and will help prevent it for the future)

    4. Reboot the console and your NAT Type should show OPEN under Setting>Network

    This resolves issues like:

    1. Moderate/Strict NAT

    2. Issues connecting to Multiplayer on games

    3. "Wheres the Internet"

    4. Sometimes DNS errors (Otherwise you just have to change your DNS to 8.8.8.8 for Primary and 8.8.4.4 for secondary, sometimes you have to do that in the router/modem as well)

    5. Unable to update the console when you first get it.

    6. Honestly 9/10 of every other network related issue.

If you do not believe its the router (Which is most likely only going to be the case if you HAVE connected before) Then to determine if the issue is on the Xbox itself, go to: Settings>Network>Advanced>Alternate Mac Address>Clear>Reboot. After that, itll turn
back on, clear the system cache by holding the power button on the front of the console for TEN seconds, after that, turn it back on. If that did not resolve the issue, then the issue does not lie on the Xbox. The only time I've seen an issue after that which
was caused by the Console itself is if the wireless card/Ethernet card it will say "Hardware not found" Which means you need to call in and get a warranty, but normally you will get that error right off the bat (Sometimes clearing the system cache will get
rid of fake errors, and the real error will show up after you clear cache)

Sorry its a lot to read but I can promise you your issue will get fixed, if not then respond to this post and I can help you get it fixed up. I'm N+ and Cisco certified and have 8 years experience, so I'm pretty knowledgeable on networking Having issues connecting to the internet? Heres an easy fix! :p

  2. Having Connection issues? Easy Fix

If like most you are having connection issues then I would recommend these couple of steps that will help fix your connection issue

The most important thing to know is what router you have:

Note: The DNS Settings will not work for BT Hubs as they are Locked by Provider Having issues connecting to the internet? Heres an easy fix! :(

once you have found out what router you have go to

Open Port (This will be needed for both the DNS change and Portfowarding)

    once logged into your router

    DNS

select advanced settings (may be in settings varies on router)

    click on DCHP

    Scroll down to DNS Settings

Change from get from host to get from manual dns

    Please set Primary to 8.8.8.8

    Please set Secondary to 8.8.4.4

(DNS Settings from google public DNS Servers)

click apply and that is the DNS Done

(This will help get a steady connection and hopefully help fix any connection issue you may be having)

But if you are still having issue I would recommend Port forwarding

Xbox 360 and Xbox One Ports

    • Port 88 (UDP)
    • Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    • Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    • Port 80 (TCP)
    • Port 500 (UDP)
    • Port 3544 (UDP)
    • Port 4500 (UDP)
The following ports above will be needed to be portfowarded a guide on Open Port will give you a step by step tutorial on how to port foward

I hope this helps fix a lot of people connection issue

Hey - if you're still having issues with the update, try connecting directly to your modem with an ethernet cable. That should fix most issues. Having issues connecting to the internet? Heres an easy fix! :)

Also, at this point, if you still have an issue, set a Static IP on your console (Do that in Settings>Network>Advanced)

    Copy down your:

    Gateway

    IP address

    Subnet

Then click "Ip Address">"Manual" And normally you can type in the same information you wrote down, when you're done entering in that info, it will test the network, if it says "Its all good, you are now connected to the internet", you can go in your router
and enable DMZ to the IP address you set up on the console, this opens all ports so you'll never have an issue again, just make sure that you set this up with the SAME IP you set up on the console, if you mess up, you can leave another device open to the network
and you can be "Hacked" (Don't worry about the Xbox, you have no fears of anything getting "Hacked", any vulnerabilities are detected and patched ASAP, and there has only been 1 vulnerability ever from what I've found in my research)

I know I type a lot, just trying to make this as simple as possible for everyone! I know it can be a pain to get connected but I can help make sure you stay connected and have no issues, feel free to hit me up.

You can use either 5 or 2.4Ghz for Xbox One, just keep in mind that 5Ghz has a shorter range than 2.4Ghz

    Someone Host Booting

    An addition to the above.

If you have a good firewall and a great connection you can't be host boosted.

There are network administration tools which cuts off outside attacks. A simple click repair and it cuts off all connection and fixes it.

It's not that easy for Microsoft to handle this type of issues. As technically it has nothing to due with their product. Host booting takes out your internet connection not Xbox LIVE.

Tom Clancy the division, Error C-0-1302

Having checked the error, it means there is an issue with your internet connecting to the host server, a restart of your internet equipment should fix the issue.
