    Hello I am a member of the Preview program,not sure if my problem is related to this. About one week or so ago I noticed what is called "color banding" playing the Witcher 3. It appeared during night scenes mostly, and especially during cutscenes in the
    night. Banding and like moving artifacts. While swimming it is also very very noticeable almost to the point of unplayable. In many games in dark scenes if there is a street lamp the color banding is horrible around it. You can also notice it on the Microsoft
    Edge load screen as if colors are not blending properly. I uploaded clips to my account under if you can see them. I have tried everything different televisions in my house new hdmi cable, hard reboot even wiped it to factory settings and nothing.........................It
    is like something is corrupted in the video output.

    Anyone notice the sign in being slower since the update?

    Before the dashboard update, I would pretty much instantly be signed in at startup, would see my gamer pic covering half the screen, with my color on the other half. Since the update, when starting up I get the Xbox green circle that says "signing in" then the circle changes to my color, then after a few more seconds, I finally get signed in. Anyone else notice this?

  3. Xbox One X - Color Banding

    Hi all,

    I have some major color banding issues with Denon AVR x1400H and the Xbox One X + LG OLED B6.

    Xbox One X: all enabled in video settings to play HDR games, in this case The Witcher 3 with the new patch.

    x1400H: 4k signal mode = enhanced for 10 bit hdr

    LG B6: Deep Color enabled on the HDMI port

    Basically, 8-bit 1080p/4K = no color banding at all (HDR and YCC 4:2:2 disabled).

    HDR BT.2020 extreme color banding (Pixel depth never show in the AVR HDMI INFO screen when using HDR) (HDR and YCC 4:2:2 enabled)

    Common factor as I have seen, is that when the AVR does not display the pixel depth, I will get strange colors or not the correct view on either HDR / SDR content.

    So for now, I have to disable HDR on the Xbox due to the banding.

    It also seems like the Xbox will never use 4:2:2, I only see 8/10bit and 4:2:0 with 1080P/4K via the AVR info.

    Like others, I have color banding on the Insect demo with HDR enabled, none with HDR off.

    I even entered HDMI Diagnostic and set "no limit" on the 4K signal on GAME HDMI Input on the AVR, seems like 4k Signal Enhanced is setting the limit to 4K30.

    Could it be a bug on the side with the Xbox and how the YCC 4:2:2 behaves, as I've never seen it actually kick in.

    When I connect the Xbox directly to the TV, with HDR and YCC 4:2:2 enabled, it is NO banding either and working as intended. But then I can't see pixel depth via the AVR.

    Anyone have some briliant ideas on what I can test next?

    Currently the Preview program hasn't released any new updates yet. It seems you have done many things to troubleshoot the video and yet no success. If something is to be corrupted the factory reset should've fixed it lets try this lets swap the resolution
    from 1080p to 720p at first glance everything will seem off and weird but let me know if it works.

    Settings - Display & Sound - video output - TV Resolution

    I'd also click calibrate HDTV and read the steps to calibrate it again.

    Nope unfortunatley I also tried above mentioned issues. What is funny is the color banding also happens on certain youtube videos etc.............I have videos posted on my profile check them out so you can see what I mean

    Hey there i have seen a video revolving in this issue from a different user who was suggested to get repairs on the console. Apparently that seemed to have fixed his issue. Lets contact a local retailer and see if they can speculate if its a OS problem or
    the console. If it is a OS problem it's not too big of a problem if you send feedback in the preview app the preview team will look into it and see if they can fix it. If it's a hardware problem / internal problem it'll need repairs or if it is under warranty
    then you'll get a replacement. If you do get repairs with out warranty then you'll need to pay for the repair costs.

    Unfortunatley it is out of warranty by about 2 months. If it comes down to the console I highly think due to multiple issues with the console and trying to get help I highly doubt I will buy another MS product. It hurts me to do so as I have been a huge
    supporter but enough is enough, it does not come down to costs but prinicpal. As I said the issues even persists on videos such as youtube, not just gaming. Can you direct me how to contact the preview program. As I called bestbuy where I purchased it, they
    told me they dont do a thing to try and diagnose problems. I will check back later as I have to go to the hospital and work today.

    Yes here is the preview forums if you plan to opt out of the preview program it is possible with in the app same goes with the feedback.

    See here is the whole problem....>Why are you telling me to opt out? Like that would NOT solve the issue lol. As I stated I did a FACTORY RESET and the same problem persists, tried 3 different televisions in my house one being a very very expensive 4k set,
    and to no avail. I asked you to direct me to support about rebooting the os system and you direct me to opt out of the preview program?? I just talked to my brother who manages the eb games here and he told me that the support system is just ran by people
    like myself?? Is this true that you are not on xbox payroll?

    As I said my system is a mere 14 months old, I refuse to pay for repairs on a system that costed me close to 600 just over a year ago...............I had problems with the previous generation and quit ms for about 2 years becasue of it....I decided to give
    them another chance but absolutley NOT.

    When I can not even get help with a simple problem..................It has NOTHING to do with opting out of the preview program? If I am wrong kindly explain that to me

    He did not direct you to opt out of the preview program, but just mentioned that it is possible. Some issues may be caused just from being in the preview program because it is basically a beta test which is why posting in those forums and possibly opting
    out would help. If that is indeed causing the issue.

    It was a suggestion i did not say you had to opt out and i did provide a valid answer too your previous post " Can you direct me how to contact the preview program." and i did so please click the hyperlink to the preview program forums. i also did say you
    can leave feedback if you are in the preview program by holding the Xbox button and you'll see the "Report a problem" option there.

    And Smwutches is right you can Opt out of the program at any time and it could resolve the issue.You can do that and Opt back in at any time if you feel like it your console / account will still have access to the preview dashboard so you can re-opt back
    in at any time.

    Did not mean to sound ignorant, I do thank your for your effort. I just get frustrated with MS at times. That being said I found out it will only cost me 115 dollars to have it replaced which in my opinion is not bad at all. I guess that is what I am going

    I am under the impression since I noticed this shortly after the last preview update that it may extend the warranty? I am having a very very hard time finding this out, can you please help me out and direct me to someone I can call and acutally talk to
    about this issue. I have been in the preview for over a year.................

    Being in the preview program has no affect on warranty. Part of the agreement when you sign up for the preview is that you do understand that in some cases something might happen to your console while in the preview and Microsoft is not liable for anything
    that does happen.
