Having a issues with Kinect "xbox on" command and "instant-on" feature

I just got the Kinect adapter for my xbox one s, and the voice commands work well with the exception of the "xbox, on" command when the console is turned off. I have "instant-on" turned on in the settings and I have Kinect xbox commands enabled.

Is anyone else experiencing this with Kinect on the Xbox One S?

I am also experiencing issues with the controller staying synced. After the console has been off for a few hours, I try to turn it on using the controller and it doesn't work. I have to turn it on by pressing the button on the console. Also, after a few
hours of being off, the "instant-on" feature does not seem to work as I have to wait for the xbox to go through the entire boot cycle to turn on (with the green xbox splash screen and everything) and then the xbox goes to my home screen rather than to the
TV app like I have it set to in the settings.

Buying a 360 tomorrow. Is Kinect necessary/worth it?

It uses voice commands to do things like find your partner in co-op, give ammo. health packs that kind of stuff. I don't have Kinect so I don't know all of the features or how well it works in DS3. I just can't imagine myself yelling commands at the tv lol.

Yeah like in the RB6 games. Though I didn't have to shout the kinect is pretty sensitive and can hear you pretty well.

Can you please confirm if you are using "Xbox" or "Hey Cortana" commands for the console?

If you are using Cortana then the correct phrase to turn the console on is "Hey Cortana Xbox On"

Yes, I am using the Xbox commands and not the Cortana commands and they work great when the console is on, but do not work to turn the console on when it is already off. I have played around with multiple power settings and I am still having these same 3
issues:

1. The paired controller does not turn the xbox on (after it has been off for an extended period of time, I can't say the exact amount of time since I only notice this in the mornings after the xbox has been off all night). If I turn the device off and then
try to turn it on right away with the controller, it works.

2. Instant-on mode does not seem to work when I turn it on (after it has been off for an extended period of time, eg. overnight like I described as above). When I turn the xbox on after it being off all night, it goes through the full boot cycle (with green
xbox splash screen and everything) and then takes me to the home screen instead of the TV like I have it set to

3. Kinect "Xbox On" command does not work at all no matter what. I can not get this command to work at all. At this point I suspect it is an actual problem possibly with the kinect adaptor and the compatibility of the kinect with the xbox one s.

I have tried toggling the "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" setting last night to see if that would fix things, and it does not seem to fix the issue. The next thing I will try is turning off the "Turn off after 6 hours of inactivity" that I have set.
Maybe changing that setting to "never" will fix the issues I am having with the "instant-on" feature and with my controller not turning on the xbox, although I know that it should not matter what that setting is.

Either way, I have not been able to turn the xbox on with my voice at all. I have a strong, clear speaking voice with a solid American accent and all other Kinect commands work perfectly for me. I guess another thing I could try is to change it over to the
Cortana commands and see if "Hey Cortana, Xbox On" works.

Has anyone been able to turn their Xbox One S on using Kinect with their voice? I feel like other people have had to have noticed this. Any suggestions as to a fix would be greatly appreciated. Given that Microsoft dropped the ball on the "say what you see"
feature or whatever it is called after they launched Cortana (the feature where you can say "Xbox Select" and say what you see on the screen is now missing), I wouldn't be surprised if this is something they overlooked or already know about.

Does anyone actually think Cortana is more useful than the old Xbox commands? The most useful part of those commands was for navigating around the Xbox, which cortana does not do as well as the old commands. I don't know about you guys, but I would rather
be able to navigate through my xbox rather than be able to ask Cortana about movie times in the area.

 

Update: I tried switching to Cortana and saying "Hey Cortana, Xbox On," "Hey Cortana, turn on," and "Hey Cortana, turn the xbox on" several times and none of those commands worked. They used to work perfectly with Cortana on my old Xbox.

At this point, I think there is either something wrong with my machine or that the Xbox One S does not support "Xbox On" commands. I think maybe the Kinect microphone is not active when the Xbox is off. Perhaps a problem with the implementation of the USB
port or the Kinect Adaptor.

 

If you have not already done so please try calibrating your Kinect sensor again as detailed in the link below.

In addition to above please check if the option to use Kinect to wake up the console is selected.

On the left menu select Settings/ All Settings/ Power & Startup/ Power mode & startup and check the top right box is ticked.

 

Thanks. I tried recalibrating and I am still having the issue of not being able to turn the console on through the "Xbox On" command. Every other command works perfectly, so I don't think it is a calibration issue. I can confirm that the option to use Kinect
to wake up the console is selected as well.

If there are no other suggestions, could somebody let me know what the best way to get in touch with someone at Microsoft would be?

 

Does anyone else here own the 2TB launch edition Xbox One S with the Kinect? Is anyone else experiencing the same issues that I am?

Do you know for sure that these features are working for other people? I would hate to restart my console and find that it's just an engineering defect. Could you or someone else who owns an Xbox One S 2TB confirm whether or not they are also experiencing
these issues?

If no one else is experiencing this, I think it makes sense to reset my system. If not, it takes forever to install all the games and apps again and I would hate to reset my system to no avail. So I just would like 1 other person with a Xbox One S 2TB and
the Kinect to confirm whether or not they are having these same issues. If someone can do that for me and confirm that they are or are not having these issues, I will be happy to reset my console to see if that fixes it.
