Have Xbox One Select Highest Quality Audio track in a movie.

Hello,

I have all my DVDs ripped with dual audio tracks. For compatibility with phones and tablets Pro Logic (jumped up stereo) is the first track and the second track is AC3 surround.

Once I start a movie Xbox starts playback with the 1st audio track and I can manually select the 2nd audio track which is great but I'm wondering is there any way to ...

Make the Xbox one automatically select the highest quality audio track

Failing that make the Xbox one automatically select the 2nd audio track if one exists (some old movies are only single track)

I'm about to make a macro on my Logitech Harmony Remote to 6 steps to select 2nd audio track but an automatic way would be better obviously.

When will the XBOX ONE bitstream DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD lossless formats?

here is my 10 cents on the matter.

Most Blu rays movies have multiple audio tracks; one being the compressed lossless audio track and the uncompressed audio track but the difference between them two is the resolution. I have seen some uncompressed audio be 16bit and then see compressed
lossless audio be 24bit or even 36bit. Which if you listen to both you do hear a difference.

I like to see this changed as well (nothing beats visually seeing what your really hearing), but you could make sure that before playing your movie have it select the compressed lossless audio track before playing the movie. This will ensure that xbox
decoding the right track.

Sorry but currently there is no way for the console to automatically select the best track available. However, you could post this suggestion in the Feedback Forums to see if they may add it in a future update.

Are you playing these from USB? I use third party software to push my films to the Xbox without issue.

Doesn't matter whether USB or DLNA 2nd higher quality audio track needs to be manually selected.

I have no issues playing back the files.

The general audio settings on the Xbox do not impact the audio output from DVD's or Blu-ray discs. Movie discs already have the audio stored in multiple formats on selectable tracks. When I select one of those tracks in the DVD menus, the audio track is spit out directly to the audio receiver without any interpolation from the Xbox. This works correctly for every track I have tried, except DTS Digital Surround.

Btw, DTS Digital Surround is generally considered to be a superior format to Dolby Digital. This is why DTS Digital Surround is commonly found on special editions of DVD's of high intensity action movies, which feature loud sound effects.
