Have Game Pass, Can't Download Without Purchase of Full Game

I have purchased the Xbox Game Pass on Windows and have been trying to get State of Decay 2. I'm having trouble trying to find the proper path for my download. Every page I end up on only gives me the option to purchase the full game or purchase the Xbox
Game Pass.

What I'm I doing wrong here? Why can't I download this game without making any more unnecessary purchases?

I'm I wrong in thinking "free with game pass" means I should be able to download this game for free?

Game won't download

Hi, I have been trying to download Arcania - Gothic 4 for about 1 week now with no luck. The demo downloads without any problems but when i try to download the full game a message pops up saying "Can't download Arcania" and an incomplete game file appears
on my hard drive. I have been able to download full games, arcade games and indie games before without any problems so i'm a bit stumped as to why it's not working this time. I have also tried emptying my games cache and xbox live marketplace cache and then
re-downloading but it still says it can't.

 

DLC for Halo 4 is missing

You could also check you have the war games season pass itself downloaded, this should appear in your purchase/download history, find it and select download again. Without the season pass DLC Halo 4 will not recognise that you've purchased it and give you
access to the maps. You will of course need to be using the same gamertag you used to redeem the season pass.

Nope, you're right that "free with Game Pass" does indeed mean it'll be free to download.

So the first thing you'll obviously want to check is that you're signed into Windows with the same account on which you have Xbox Game Pass. If not, sign out and sign in with that account.

The simplest place to find the game should be in the Windows Store itself on your PC. When I open the app and go to State of Decay 2, I get the options "Install"; "Install on Xbox One" and then options for purchasing either the standard or ultimate editions.

Note: You need to select the standard version to see the installation options. If you're on the ultimate edition's page you'll only see options for buying or gifting it.

If you are on the Store page for the ultimate edition, scroll down a tiny bit to the section "in this bundle" and click on the tile for the base game. That'll take you to the right page.

If, for some reason, these steps aren't working, try
this link to the Microsoft Store. That'll take you to the correct product page.

There may not be an "install" button there, but try hitting "install on Xbox One" (even if you don't have an Xbox One) and then go back to the Windows Store app and try installing it from there again.
