Have family buy digital..

Discus and support Have family buy digital.. in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; @D33dles Maybe Microsoft could detect that 2 Xboxones are using the same IP address (ie in the same household connected to one service provider ISP)... I'm sure they could. Microsoft should just clarify if the practice is acceptable; if it is, it would be a nice perk for going digital. Personally would like games treated like movies, where you can buy the BluRay or the BluRay plus the digital copy for a
added fee. I wonder how many people would be into that idea?

    Peace, J.R.

The problem is Microsoft can't tell us if the practice is acceptable. The games don't belong to them. I contacted both EA and Ubisoft when this subject first came up, they both said that it wasn't allowed.

When people used to "burn" copies of music and game cd's it would be like asking the manufacturer of the R/RW drive if the practice was acceptable. They may have provided the means to do it but aren't going to tell you it's ok to break the law.

Common sense should be enough justification that this is a loophole, does anyone seriously think any of the publishers and developers are ok with giving away a free game for every one purchased?

so why are they publishing games on a console that allows them to share them, which is well documented on the net.

The alternative is a form of DRM that's going to make a large part of the console community very unhappy.

You have people looking for "home console" swap partners. As more One's are sold and more people become aware of how the system can be abused something will change. Look at the number of publishers and developers that have gone out of business in the last
several years, they can't afford to lose money on every release.

They are currently choosing the lesser of two evils but when it starts to impact their bottom line then we'll see a change.

No one in their right mind will give there username and password to someone else, which you have to do in the current setup.

Publish allowed this on the 360 for its entire life, with licence transfers.

Publishers have the same choices as everyone, the revenue lost form this would be tiny compared to revenue lost from stopping publishing for the Xbox.

IMO it would be simply to create a better system, and please everyone, but it would depend on so many things.

  6. I had an online friend ask me if they could install my games on their Xbox. My response?

    NO.

  7. I don't get why this debate keeps reappearing. Surely if MS didn't want it to work like this they'd have built the system to stop it. You're not telling me that they're simply unaware that a digital copy can be shared? I've done this with every game I've
bought and my sister who lives in another town can play all my games at the same time as I am playing them.

They are aware of it and they can stop it. Remove the "home console" or the "take your games with you" feature. That'll hurt sales and upset the community.

Apparently developers and publishers aren't forcing the issue yet. I'm sure digital sales are still much smaller than disc sales so they are willing to take the lose. Once the push to all digital hits the PC level then they'll have to change something or
developers/publishers will be taking huge loses.

@Dangerous Alan - Email EA and explain to them what your doing and see what their response is then tell me this is an intended feature.

Its the same as the ability to share a hard disk but w some extra restrictions. Why would any publisher have a problem. Not like a person is going to put all his billing info on a bunch of strangers console.

digital content should be able to be sold, given to charity, or even put in a will. the whole industry needs to give up the rights. Especially when we pay sales tax

  11. Since the last update, the kid and I are no longer able to play games together unless we both have copies. Not only that but I can't play any of his digital games and vice versa. We live in the same house.

If they do a license check???? it clearly states on HOme xbox you do not have to be signed in for anyone in your FAMILY to enjoy the benefits of GOLD...... On the second xboxone you are signed into live and entitled to use your licenced digital copy....how
is this a violation of their EULA?

it's not supposed to work that way now unfortunately. initially yes but the backlash changed a lot. so as it stands now, you can not buy one copy of a game and use it simultaneously. your digital library can be accessed from anywhere on any console as
long as you're signed in. on a "home" console, no one is required to sign in to access the content on it.
