Hauppauge Xbox One Digital Tuner is terrific!

Just received my Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner for the Xbox One. I love it! I was using a HomeWorx PVR-150 and only getting some of the local channels. With the Hauppauge tuner, I'm getting them all.

Setup was a snap...just plugged it in and the system asked me if I wanted to set it up..easy.

One item for anyone who is replacing another OTA method for this one (shouldn't be an issue for moving from a cable box setup)...change the guide source in OneGuide to something else besides Over The Air/Antenna before plugging in the new tuner.

Even though I deleted the HomeWorx from the cable box section,before plugging in the Hauppauge, the OTA tuner setup would tell me that I already had used that guide (OTA / Antenna) for another device. Change the other box to a local cable setup in OneGuide...then
install the Hauppauge...and then go back into settings and remove the old device and the OnGuide entry.

TV turner to all Xbox One owners

What a difference a week makes ! Seems the Xbox branded Tuner is available and even much cheaper than the Hauppauge model.

What if I have a cable subscription, but the cable box I have only has coaxial output?

I basically have one of these from Cogeco:

We got one in 2011 after they stopped using Analog signals in Canada, so the coaxial line comes in to the house and in to that box, then that box outputs in coaxial to my TV set.

Since I have no HDMI output on the cable box, I looked in to getting this:

My question is, will that work for me, or is that adapter ONLY used for OTA signals?

 

I agree. It's much better than my HTPC/HDHomerun solution. I'm probably going to repurpose the HTPC into a NAS/DLNA server.

Just ordered one of these. The way I figure it, in 1 month I will it will pay for itself. After that, I see bonus gaming for myself!

 

100% agree. It's works great. I to was using HomeWorx. But the TV tuner works so much better

 

I just got mine last night. Hooked it up. Works, but I only can pick up 2 channels......

 

Are you using a outside antenna kingvas78? The little antenna you can buy with it or rabbit ears really won't pick up stations unless you are REAL close to the broadcasting station. I only get one channel using rabbit ears, but pick up about 30 using the
outside antenna.

@D33dles, I am using the big white square looking antenna that came with the package. Not the little stick antenna. The big white antenna says it's good for 50 miles, and where I'm located, I'm about 150 miles from Great Falls MT..... all I can pick up is
the local Alberta stations.....

 

150 miles is a way off. I'm using a outside antenna (Don't know the range.) and picking up Detroit, Flint, Mt. Clemens, and a couple Canadian channels. The guy down the road from me is using an antenna about the size of a Cessna...I can only imagine what
he's picking up. Lol.

OK Sold!! My Homeworx 150 died, Gonna pick up the Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner. I'm just 20 miles south of Boston. I get about 40 channels with the built in tuner on my LED TV. I would love the guide of the Xbox One back again.

 

Any word if this supports ClearQam? My Verizon FiOS still doesn't encrypt the local channels and I get them for free as part of my internet package. Curious if I bought one of these if I could use it with the FiOS coax input rather than the antenna. I can
use the antenna if necessary but the FiOS setup would be preferable.

 

do I need to get a externally storage for this to recorded the 30 minutes?
