Has the Kinectless SKU changed your mind?

If there were a Kinect-less bundle on day one I would have bought it because at THAT point I would have known that Kinect was optional and wouldn't be used to it's fullest. Now having said that when I did buy my one on day one and started using the Kinect
I really REALLY liked it's implementation. I was more than happy to get it because at the time it was supposed to be something that was standard with every Xbox which meant that every developer knew the Xbox One came with Kinect and it's use might have been
expanded in games.

I never had Kinect for the 360. But I really love the Kinect for the One. Unfortunately this news is pretty much gonna kill anything innovative for Kinect and that's just very sad.

I have been waiting for a reason to get an XBone since release, and have nearly pulled the trigger a couple of times in the last month. I like the idea of a Kinect-less version, mostly for the savings. That being said, if I could find compelling evidence
that the Kinect version does add to the experience, I'd still buy it. But in truth, I find reading through these posts that the community is still divided. I find just as many people saying it is great as there are people who say it's hit or miss. I suppose
I'll err on the side of caution and get the new SKU.

I heard the other day that Miyazaki is working on a new "Souls" project for From Software, but that it will be Sony exclusive. For a few minutes, this got me thinking about getting a PS4. But the truth is, for as great a machine as it's supposed to be, that
controller is always going to be inferior. That's the big reason why I stay with MS. And I just like the way Live works.

Another big factor in pushing me toward getting a console has been the previews for Watch Dogs. So long as the hype is real, this may be the first big game to grab my interest enough that I want to play it on the new gen systems.

 

When i first saw that MS was releasing its new console i really thought there would be 2 versions of it....1 with the kinect and 1 without kinect...i would of bought the bundle with the kinect anyway so for me i really dont care that they are releasing it
with no kinect for 100 bucks cheaper....I dont care for kinect based games anyway i just like using the device to get through the dashboard and TV. The kinect makes the xbox feel next gen to me...you can talk about how its not as powerful compared to the PS4
and PC's blah blah blah but to me it looks the same and it has me talking to it constantly lol.

 

No, because I bought the PS4 this go around and it's more powerful and can do whatever the Xbox can do but better. Too little too late, I jumped ship from this company because of actions like this, what a slap in the face to all the day one supporters,
and what a slap in the face to the people who bought the PS4 because they didn't want the kinect spy camera

 

Although I don't regret buying the Xbox One at launch, if I could've had the choice to buy it without Kinect for $100 less I would've definitely gone with that option. At the same time though, Kinect makes the simplest things like saying "Xbox, pause" or
"Xbox, record that" so much more convenient. I know the support for Kinect will slowly die down and less and less developers will feel the need to utilize it, but I hope at least some decent Kinect games come out of it anyway. I've said time and time again
that if it's possible, Katamari Kinect would be a simple and fun game that could maybe garner some interest in the Kinect. I know hoping for anything positive for Kinect is wishful thinking at this point, but I'm reluctant to just give up on it. Motion control
will never be the focal point for gaming, at least until maybe Virtual Reality comes along, but it's still a pretty remarkable piece of technology. It's a bittersweet kind of thing because I want the best for my choice of console, but at the same time I want
the companies visions to prevail.

Me personally, No. Not right now, maybe in another year or so.

I learned my lesson on purchasing New consoles within the 1st two years of their life. Back during the Original Xbox days I was loaded with mullah and didn't mind the system/hardware failures too much.

I remember the anger of the dreaded DDE, and the Sparking internal power supply, and the 2 years it took support to correct (NOT) the problem... "Your
warranty is up now Mr. _ _ _ _ _ N. Sorry we weren't able to fix your system."

If I heard anything like that again, I'd have a heart attack, or stroke. So staying away from the "console wars" this time around may in fact be Healthy for me.

 

Kinect all the way. The problem with motion controll gaming is that all the "real" gamers dont like to play games that make them out of breath. I have no problems playing COD for an hour and then rock climbing in KS rivals and then leaning my head into turns
on Forza. Ive found that the more I use it the better it gets at knowing what im doing. Not sure if its learning my mannerisms or if my brain has become more accustomed to what it can actually recognise or both. Im just sorry more people wont give it a chance.
Take your time calibrating it and do it more than once. Voice recognition seems to get better the more i use it. Again not sure if im learning the machine or the machine is learning me. Either way im enjoying it. Iwent day one because i wanted kinect. I enjoyed
it on the 360 as well and still do. Even with what I consider minor glitches from time to time. I think its just a matter of understanding its capabilities and limitations.

 

99% of People who support kinect always come up with how they use it for voice commands surely a simple mic would do the same job. I'll wait until E3 and decide wether to purchase the Xbox one. So far i'm more than happy with Sony and the variety of games
they have to offer. Plus the controller is miles better than the DS3.

 

Glad there is a Kinect less option available now as it gives everyone a choice, not everyone wants one and that is fair enough. The reason I have finally decided to pick one up late June is for the games that are coming out soon. The top three I am keen
to get my hands on: Destiny, Dragon age Inquistion and Batman Arkham Knight.

Removing the pay wall on Apps was a fantastic thing to do. Good for the lone wolves that don't play multiplayer but wanted access to the other great features Xbox live provides.

 

Auswolf, I'm not sure if you answered though - which will you be getting? With or without?

 

I've said before, I've enjoyed how the Kinect has worked with a few games already, Dead Rising 3 for example and I've been having a great laugh on Kinect Sports Rivals with friends and family. I do feel though it needs a AAA "Kinect Only" title though but
the console is what? around 6 months old now, early days yet and I'm certainly not writing it off just yet.

As for the voice commands, once again I can totally appreciate some have no interest in them, to be honest just before the Xbox One was released I wasn't too sure about it myself, now though, nothing like sitting down in my living room and, "Xbox On" etc,
maybe it's just encouraging me to be lazy? lol, so yeah there's not one thing that I can say why "I really like Kinect" but so far it's all the little things that come together and just make the whole experience better, well better for me.

 

Im waiting until the end of the year, no doubt by then there will be a 1Tb Xbox One Kinectless with a cheaper price than prices come June.
