Has the coil whine issue been fixed now?

My console has always had a minor issue with coil whine when it's turned on. It only happens when I'm on the dashboard and it's not loud, so I never really cared about it.

However, a couple of dashboard updates ago, my console started to make coil whine noises when it was turned off in instant on mode. The noise was constant and as my Xbox One is currently in my bedroom, I can clearly hear it when I'm trying to sleep and it's
annoying.

I'm thinking of getting the console replaced while it's still in warranty, but have MS actually done anything to address the coil whine issue, or are they just sending out the same designs hoping that people will get one that doesn't have the issue? I don't
want to get one that's even louder.

coil whine with latest update

The latest system update from 8/5/2016 has introduced coil whine to my xbox one. Coil whine is a buzzing sound that can be heard from across the room, but only when the system is idle, for example at the home screen. It goes away when the system is being
stressed, for example playing a game. It is also present in instant on mode. This coil whine was not there before the update. From what I have read an update long ago fixed coil whine for many. This most recent update has reintroduced it.

 

October Update rolling out now!

 

There was a fix in the October system update which addressed this noise. A number of people have mentioned the October update solved it for them and it was out ~October 15th. Do you still get the noise after the update?

Seems it happens more for European consoles and those without Kinect attached.

 

Just spoke with a chat rep, it appears there is no fix unless you send in your xbox for a $135.00 repair fee. This is assuming you are out of your one year warranty. They told me to put it in power saving mode and plug it directly into an outlet, this helps
with making the whine go away after you shut it off ( it still takes a few mins for it to stop).
