Has my Xbox been dropped or something?

So yeah I got hold of a white Xbox One the other day, its great. Only problem is its making some strange noises, the fan sounds like something is stuck in it and the hard drive can be heard quite audibly whenever in use, its not the sound a new console
should make, it sounds like a really really old hard drive on its last legs, and the fan itself is just annoying.

Not really sure what to do because as soon as I turn my soundbar on and get into a game I don't really hear the problem, but the fact both the fan and hard drive don't sound healthy right out the box does make me worry. Should I return the console and get
another one? Is a pretty noisey fan and whirring hard drive pretty standard on the Xbox One?

I too have noticed that the picture quality has dropped on Netflix. however, the quality has dropped on BOTH my 360 AND my xbox one as well

 

Hi there you should not hear any fan noise or hd noises, i would return it to the retailer from where you purchased it.

 

Ah well thats a real shame, even if it is bad news thank you for answering, I just hope they have another white console in stock... I purchased and downloaded a few games onto it, once I've signed in on my new console (if I get it swapped) will I be able
to redownload these or are they console specific?

 

dbRaven88. Sorry your system was defective. As pro said best to just return it. as for your downloaded games, they are tied to your account and all saved data etc has been saved to the cloud. Once you get your new system up and running all downloads and
saves will be ready for you to re-download.

 

Returned it to the store today, they were quite happy to exchange it, thankfully they had another white console in stock too, got it home got it out the box and plugged it in, same issue...

Is this a common fault or something? I would like a solution but I'm not so sure about returning this console if the next one will be just as bad again.

 

Look at YouTube videos and compare the sound. If I had not done that, I wouldn't have realized mine suffered the dreaded disc grinding. (Which Microsoft promptly *** me over and charged me to fix)
