Harmony Remotes - Using the Triggers

I've exhaustively searched, and can't find anyone else mentioning this. I have a Logitech Harmony 650. I'm trying to create sequences to get to my Pins (specifically, to launch Netflix and Plex). The quick way with a controller would be to press RT (right
trigger) from the main home screen to get to your pins (and LT to get back to the top). Microsoft doesn't seem to have published an IR code for remotes that emulates the triggers.

That's all well and good, just have the sequence go to the home screen and press down 5 times to get to the pins, right? Well...sometimes. With the Creators Update, some apps now have additional links below the main app when they're the most recently
used app. For instance, if your most recently used app is Live TV (OneGuide), pressing down doesn't take you to your 2nd most recent app, it takes you to the "Live TV" shortcut that shows up below the main OneGuide icon. But if your most recent app is a game,
pressing down one time takes you to the 2nd most recent app. So, depending on what your most recently used app is, you either have to press down 5 or 6 times to get to your pins.

Because of this, you cannot create a sequence on the remote that will get you to your pins 100% of the time. If there was an IR code for the RT button, you could get to your pins 100% of the time.

I've also experimented with the new guide that show up on the first press of the Xbox button. You can't easily get to pins there, either, because sometimes there's an ad for the Gold deals, sometimes there's not. So it's either 7 or 8 presses of down to
get to the pins.

From my testing, you cannot "teach" the Harmony the RT code because the Xbox One controller does not send any codes via IR (even though there are IRs in the top of the remote).

So. Has anyone had any luck with being able to set up a sequence on their Harmony remote to get to a specific app on the Xbox? Or any other ideas that I may not have thought of that could get there successfully?

Harmony 650 for XB1?

Is anyone using a Harmony 650 to control the XB1? I just ordered one and was reading that Harmony released XB1 codes for all of their remotes. How well does it work? Are there any less expensive remotes that work?

 

Is it possible to control Xbox One thru IR with Universal Remote?

Just remember if you use a harmony remote then don't also use voice commands to turn on/off the Xbox. The harmony remembers the "state" of your devices so if you use another remote or voice commands then it's not aware of the changes and it can cause problems.
