Hardware or software problem fan and system running when turned off

I need to know if this is a hardware or software issue. the system sounds like it running and the fan is blowing constantly when it is turned off in standby mode. Others have said they called and are being sent a new system. Since it appears that MS support
knows nothing about these preview updates, I need to know if this is software related. Can someone please tell me before I go thru the process of getting a new system. I would rather not have to reinstall everything if I don't have to.

    :)

  2. Hardware or Software Problem

    Hello,

Since the first update in 2018 my console has been having issues. One of said issues is games, apps, and everything else taking too long too start (even xbox idle). The only way to fix this is to power cycle, however it is only fixed for 15 minutes to an
hour before I have to power cycle again. When this happens I cannot do anything on my console game or app wise. I have tried to factory reset and got no results, even tried to edit startup settings (which seemed to help others) and still got nothing.

Any help would be very appreciated, would love to be able to play my Xbox without my games black screening after half an hour(ish).

P.s.) As of yesterweek games will not install or download after 15-45 minutes without a power cycle.

Oh and my console is the first XB1 to be released after the "Day One" Edition. Got mine on day 1 but it was the normal version.

    Hardware or Software Problem

    Hi there,

if a power cycle will only fix it temporary, then I suggest doing a factory reset (with keeping Games and Apps installed)

See this links for the steps on how to perform the factory reset: Reset Xbox One Console to Factory Defaults

Keep in mind that you will need the account credentials in order to download your profile again.

If this doesn't fix the issue either, then it might be a hardware issue and I suggest contacting Xbox Support to see if they have any other steps to try.

Instant On issues: Cannot disable, nor does Xbox wake up with voice command when enabled

I think it's rather software than hardware problem.

It sometimes turn off with no problem, but sometimes dont. Remind me of my laptop when some stucked process running in the background prevents it from turning off or restarting.

I chat with Xbox support, unplugging the cables and putting them back has solved it for now. Let see tommorrow..

Kinect keeps turning on and off

    ^^

Cleaning it should not require taking it apart. Normally the fan is off, and only runs if it overheats. The software drivers turn things on and off, including the fan. Blowing it out with a vacuum blower or a small air can should be sufficient.

The main issue is the driver communication between the 2 devices. I think though the driver software never has done well regarding the fan operation, where the fan normally is off even when it is on. If the Kinect is on, I would think the fan should always
be running. I think they did it like they did to prevent dust from building up through the circuit board, but did not consider it overheating. The driver communication needs to be improved where the operation is not affected by the cashe load on it.

x box series x shut off for reason?.

Hello Steve *. My name is Jose.

There are several reasons why your Xbox Series S could turn off for no reason.

Hardware problem: There may be a problem with the console's hardware, such as the power supply, processor, or memory. This is most likely if the console turns off suddenly, without warning.

Software issue: There may be a problem with the console software, such as a bug or a faulty update. Or if it turns off when certain games or applications are running.

Since your console has recently been professionally cleaned, it is unlikely that the problem is due to ventilation. However, there may be a problem with the console's hardware or software.

Overheating can also be a possible cause of an unexpected shutdown, as the console is designed to automatically turn off if it reaches too high a temperature to prevent damage.

Recommendation: Make sure the console is in a well-ventilated location, with no obstructions blocking airflow.

Here are some additional steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

Perform a hard reset of the console. To do this, press and hold the power and eject buttons for at least 10 seconds.

Restores the console to its original settings. To do this, go to Settings > System > Console Info > Reset to Original Settings.

If you have tried all of these steps and the issue persists, I recommend that you contact Xbox Support for help.
