So my ISP is Comcast...I subscribe to the 105Mbps internet package and usually see speeds in excess of that during non-peak hours, and between 40-60Mbps during peak hours/weekends. I also use a hardwired connection via ethernet to my router (this is a new
router I purchased recently, but this problem happened with my old router as well in the exact same manner).

When i sign into my account, I usually go directly to the Network settings to make sure of a few things...

    • That my NAT is open (which it always is)
    • That my multiplayer connection is good to go (it always is, with latencies under 100, connection speeds over 20Mbps at minimum, and no more than 1% packet loss)
So I sign on to play online, and my experience is just atrocious. Halo just constantly lags in the round (resetting the screen over and over again), GTA V plays very glitchy and laggy at times but smooth other times, and Madden is extremely laggy as well,
sometimes even disconnecting me from another player.

What gives? Looking at my numbers, it seems I should be able to play these games just fine, but for whatever reason, I can't play ANY of them properly (can't play Halo at all really). I know that games will connect differently than the system does when doing
network compatibility tests, but can the differences be THAT substantial to cause just an almost total failure of all facets of online multiplayer games for me?

Sorry this is long winded, but I'm kind of at my wits end and I'm not sure what else to do. And for clarity, I have run signal checks on my modem (which all come back fine) as well as router settings which are all set as they should be for online gaming
purposes. I have also tried powering down the Xbox One console itself (no improvement), and have power cycled my network equipment numerous times (also no change).

Thanks in advance for any help, advice or just words of support you have because honestly, this sucks.

    :)

    100% packet loss

I am unable to connect to any online services on my Xbox 1 s, I’m guessing because of the “100% packet loss” my system is experiencing. I just got my console and I’ve connected to Xbox Live before. I’ve tried using both a wireless network and wired network,
neither seem to work. Although I normally use a wired connection. My network connection is working just fine so I’m connected to the internet but when I check the multiplayer connection I’m being told I have “100% packet loss”. NAT type is open and “all services
are available. My download speed is 117.36 Mbps and upload speed 11.77Mbps. Packet loss is 100% and latency is 24 ms. Please

  3. Xbox Live Connection

I am connected to my perfectly fine internet connection, yet I can't access anything online. When I test network connection, everything is fine yet I can't do anything with it.

I've tried hard resetting and it didn't work. I've tried switching between wireless and wired but still nothing

Monkey Johannon, I'm sorry to hear that. Network problems are always most complex.

I think in this case, games use the same connection type, because Microsoft did not use standard protocol, - ICMP, to check latency and connection, but use UDP for that.

It seems, that You have good connection parameters, at the time of network testing. At this time, the only thing that comes to my mind, is network Jitter.

  5. Thanks for the reply. That was one of the things that I was starting to lean towards the most. Jitter is such a "real time" stat that measuring it at the time of network testing is almost useless if it is fluctuating during game play.

I've found out that the condo building I live in is also sharing a node with 2 other buildings from Comcast...and that it is over capacity...so that surely doesn't help anything, especially during peak hours.

Oh well, hopefully it will rectify itself or they'll come out and do some line testing and try to get the signal more consistent...otherwise playing online just became a whole lot less appealing.

Monkey Johansson, yeah, unfortunately we can't check network jitter in game, when we playing.

You can of course use some special programs or hardware to test it by Yourself, but I don't think, that You must do such things, because this is responsibility side of internet provider.
