Hard drive working on Xbox but not win 10 (want to move a game).

It's not possible to move a game from Windows 10 to the Xbox console. Your only option is to download the game on the console. Since you already own the game, you won't be charged any extra to download it to the console. Just make sure you are using the same account on the console that was used to purchase the game on Windows 10.

The Transfer cable is designed solely to move data from one hard drive to another. It is not designed to extract certain saved game files in order to play them.

If you want to play a saved game from that hard drive, simply install the hard drive onto your Xbox.

<edit> I just realized you that you are asking about an original Xbox game. The transfer cable will only work between Xbox 360 hard drives. They will not work with original Xbox hard drives.

You can try move games to the external hard drive by following these steps:
1. Open the “Settings” app by pressing the keyboard shortcut Win + I.
2. Click on “System” and then select “Storage”.
3. Under the “More storage settings” section, click on “Change where new content is saved”.
4. Select the external hard drive from the drop-down menu and click on “Apply”.

Please note that this method only works for new games that you install after changing the storage location. If you want to move existing games to the external hard drive, you will need to uninstall and reinstall them.

Otherwise you can also try move other files to the external hard drive to create space in the internal hard drive.

When you say "I was forced to update to Win 11", who forced you to? I only ask as MS give you the option but they don't make you do it

If the game worked fine on Win 10, then I'd suggest going back to it until the Win 11 system is more stable. An alternative is, if you have a spare hard drive, to install Win 10 on that and have a dual boot system so you can switch depending on which you need.

Just install Windows 10 from the following and format the drive with it to install Win 10 fresh:

To expand on what T3CH said, the second instruction he gave you uninstalls the system update so you can re-install it. you may want to also remove the hard drive and re-insert it if you have a hard drive.

If you continue to have trouble and you have a flash drive available you may want to pull the hard drive out, plug in the flash drive, configure it for the Xbox then try installing the update to the flash drive, if it works fine that means your hard drive
is probably about to go bad. Move all your save games to the flash drive or your cloud storage ASAP.

If the flash drive works you MAY want to consider formatting your hard drive, but that may also finish the hard drive off.
