Hard drive wil not let me play and won't read

I have had a hard drive less then month and now I turn on nfs rivals will not play or show a hard drive is even in the machine. I've cleared everything a lot of times , turned off , restarted and still nothing this truely is bad on xbox , either I buy
new drive or go to ps4 on the support they talk to you like I'm dumb so I can just say xbox sucks

Xbox 360 internal hard drive

My friend gave me his hard drive and it has games on it but it won't let me play them on my system I even license transferred his account but it still won't let me. What do I do?!?!

It won't let me use a flash drive, buying from xbox.com will not let me use my account balance

I got it, I think, it won't let me put it on a flash drive, but it did let me buy the game and attempt to, so now I can "download again" when I have the hard drive, thanks guys

When you go to the storage section on the console, does it show unformatted, if so then you will need to format the hard drive.

Also if you purchased the hard drive less then a month ago, you should still have warranty on the hard drive, which should allow you to register it for a replacement if it keeps causing problems at

I have a similar issue, I think this issue is within the xbox itself and not the insert able hard drive, I have 2 legitimate Microsoft hard drives, the first was 120GB, it gave me this error so I invested into a 250GB Microsoft HD, the same exact errors
are popping up.

I play both online and offline games, downloaded games from Xbox Live as well as purchased Disk Games from Gamestop, new in package, but both types give me Disk Unreadable, Clean Disk, Hard drive Unformatted, and various other messages saying the same.

The only fix I have found for this is to turn the console off and remove the hard drive, re insert the hard drive amended restart the console, then I can see all of my games again, but soon after playing a game it stops the game and gives me the above issue
messages. Then I have to turn off the system and ect..

I notice the system making and excessive amount of noise upon start up, sounds like the fan is running to fast as well as possibly disk drive is running for some reason..., online games are more likely to give these errors than offline games.

I know the issue is not the hard drive I purchased but within the system itself or connected to a Xbox Update.

I have read several posts pointing out that an update caused these issues.

Considering on giving my xbox away and investing in a PC or PS4 if this continues. So far I am not happy with the systems reliability.

System year of make is 2012 xbox 360 Slim 4GB
