    Hard Drive Storage


    Hey all,

    I turned my console on this morning and found that my profile was corrupted. After deleting it I was prompted for an update. After accepting and failing to download it I checked my storage and the hard drive was corrupted. Xbox Support says that the only solution
    is to format the hard drive, which I will eventually do.

    My question is this. Does anyone know of any fixes to this? I have years of save data from games that I have nearly fully completed, Skyrim, Borderlands, Mass Effect and Halo being some of them. I'm hesitant to format my hard drive until I'm 100% sure there's
    no chance of recovery.

    If you know of any fixes or just want to remember your save in a game before losing it feel free to post below.

    Anyone with information that leads to any recovery of my game data will live in my gamer tag's bio until the day I die.

    Hi there, can you still see the save data when looking through the hard drive? If so, is there still the option to move it at all? I would suggest formatting a USB and seeing if you can copy your save data to it and get it working that way:

    support.xbox.com/.../usb-flash-drive-faq

    If there's no way to move the data then unfortunately it's most likely lost.

    No. The only option is to format the drive. I tried seeing if anything changed by inserting a USB (desperation) but no luck. Though I'm going to look into backing up my saves, never really did so before.

    Thanks for the help, I'm a bit annoyed by it all. I had a few games that I was getting around to finishing completely before this happened.

    I'm not too sure on what caused the corruption, I take care of my console.

    Formatting the hard drive erases the information on it. If you want to recover the games that were previously on there, you just need to find them in the "Store" on your XBOX Dashboard and download them again.

    Unfortunately any save data that was on the hard drive won't be recovered. Now if you were playing an "Online" game like Fortnite or Warzone, the information tied to your account is saved on their network and will be recovered when you sign in again.
