If you want to retain the data on your old hard drive, you can look into getting the Xbox 360 transfer cable. This will allow you to transfer all of the content on your old HDD to your new HDD.

I don't think they sell it at the Microsoft Store anymore, but you can still find it at video game stores like GameStop.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but it is possible to purchase a transfer cable that will allow you transfer content from one Xbox 360 hard drive onto another one.

Well that's the conclusion I reached, but I will test it further before I lash out and buy a replacement. It's a shame there aren't better diagnostic tools or error logs to confirm this....

I already have the data transfer cable from the previous data transfer I did when my second Xbox died.

My followup question is where can I buy a replacement hard drive for my generation of Xbox? I can't find a retailer in Australia that stocks it. Further to that Microsoft don't even list it is an accessory anymore!

All I can think of is paying Microsoft as an out of warranty repair to essentially replace the hard drive, but I'd prefer a new hard drive to a refurbished one....

I bought a new external hard drive. Games semi-work now. I successfully downloaded a profile from Xbox Live. Still some issues with corrupted data from the old internal hard drive, but I'll replace that later.

So I presume that you inserted the Hard Drive that you used from the previous SLIM? If so, that would be the Hard Drive indeed. You will have to get that replaced.

Does the error still show up even without a Hard Drive inserted?
