    Hard drive options?

    Hello,

I just recently bought a 360 (a little late I know). It is the pre-slim version (white case) and has a 20 GB hard drive. I've found I love XBL too much to only have 20GB of hard drive available lol. I have a 500gb external from an old computer I don't
use anymore. I read somewhere that you can use these with the Xbox, but they must be compatible... how do I see if it is? Also, I have read conflicting reports on what you can load onto it and what you can't. Most of the reports are 3 years old though. Is
there anywhere that provides this info? Don't want to break anything (console, user agreement or otherwise), but also don't want to spend $100 on a console I will inevitably be replacing soon with an XBone anyway. Thanks for your time!

    :)

  4. Hard drive options?

Hi there, from major nelson's blog 'Larger external USB hard drives – Plug in any external USB hard drive up to 2 TB to store your Xbox 360 downloads, profile, saved games, and other data'

    majornelson.com/.../xbox-360-system-update-now-available-adds-support-for-2tb-hard-drives

It basically says any hard drive up to 2tb so I'd plug in just about any, just be aware that it will format that drive and you will lose any data on there so make sure you don't want anything on there.

Also it will work the same as the 'internal' storage on the machine, so games, saves, profiles, music etc.

The only official hard drives for the Slim are the 250 gb and 320 gb. Anything that is not official does put you at risk for being banned.

if there are 2 Options, one of them is your hdd and there is NO usb attached, it most likely is the internal 4gb.

you console might be out of warranty already, but opening it by yourself might be detected as a Manipulation and removing Access to live completly, you shouldnt do it.

I'm afraid that the reason it was so cheap was most likely because of the issues you are having... It sounds like the previous owner modified the console, correct?

Im not sure, but cant I just open the console and remove the damaged internal drive so the sus update saves to my HDD or a seperate USB flash drive?
